I was in a pub in Scotland when I was making small talk with a girl that was drinking what I was drinking. I then found out shortly after we had started talking she was only 16. An I being 24 thought this was a huge problem. So I made an excuse why I had to leave early.

As of this day I still feel awkward on the whole situation. My buddy who lives in Scotland thought she was older. An failed to tell me that 16 is the legal age to drink. =/

Pride's on the deadly sins list, and it opposes the virtue of humility. Culturally we've kindof reversed ourselves on pride, most people think it's good to take pride in one's successes and good qualities. We're supposed to remind our children that we're proud of them and encourage people by saying they should be proud of themselves.

Really, when taken with temperance any of the deadly sins could be virtuous or lead to right action. A dose of greed leads to diligence, a nudge of wrath causes us to strike out against threats to ourselves or dear ones. It's only in excess that any of those things becomes wrong or unhealthy.

I've come a long way in life, and there's still a long ways I wont go because I'm only human. It's humbling to think how much I don't know, and yet I can only feel pride when I look back on what I've accomplished.

Erm your wrong there, 16 is not elgal to do much other than have sex in the Uk (which includes Scotland) the age to be able to buy alcahol is 18 as well as from teh 1st of this month buy fags.

Problem is alot of the girls these days look much older than they are, and its even worse if a 16 and in some cases younger girl can dress up and blag her way into a club.

I still find it odd that a 16 year old can get into the place and on top of that actually order alcoholic beverages. Then again my recent trip to the club required me too show them my I.D twice. Once to get in an then once to order. I know my buddy had to show it a few more times then I did.

The problem is Lnin, if the girl can make herself up to look older (especially if your in a Unviersity city where there can be 2000 freshers at 18) if the bouncers asked every person for ID it would take all night jsut tog et the people in. Its not an excuse its just howe it is here, you have to be very carefull.

What's worse is that a 20 year old has to be careful. For instance, there are a lot of Freshman girls here who are like 17 (birthday might be in December or some shit like that..).

And, I'm in a fraternity that has a prominent position on campus. I have to be careful about the things I say and how I interact with them, because not every girl is "Cool". There is definitely the possibility that there are the bad apples that are just seeking to cause problems and gain attention for themselves.
