Dragon Warrior was actually my first RPG. I remember not being very good at it; it was a catalyst for me hating RPGs for the longest time until I decided to finally give one a try at the behest of a friend of mine back in the day: Final Fantasy VI.

Been hooked ever since.

Ok that was a bit unfair. As much as I think it's pointless for extra stuff, I'm definitely the person that will pay the extra fee (As was the case for Lunar 2), but a lot of stuff is unnecessary.

Kinda funny to see this thread heading towards a "We don't need pointless things" faux-debate (more or less sparked and supported by the very person wanting a pointless thing).


Joking aside, I tried it out, and while not the most uncomfortable controller (certianly not ergonomic), it is a bit unwieldly. Also the cable from the controller to the port is detachable, so you could easily lose contact if the cable popped out (and it has once or twice). All-in-all, as Jei said, a display piece.

If people will buy it, then it has a point: to make people spend their money, if for nothing else.

You can use the fucking hat though. If you're using the controller, I have no problem with it, but again it looks like it's horribly uncomfortable and would make a shitty controller.

And thus is the beauty of novelty items: sure, you can use them for their original function, and most times they'll work as advertised, but they're better off just being novelties. Show pieces, nothing more. They're mostly not so much better than items truly designed for the same purpose; there's usually much better available if you're looking for function over form.

But that's neither here nor there. Metal Slime PS1 Controller owns for the fun factor, as does the Guide Beret (I found that it has Hidden Effect: Makes the Japanese look at you like you were insane ). Barrel full o'monkeys, that one.
