Nothing like friends who tell you exactly how important your effort at "helping the community" as a "guide maker" really is...

    People read that?
I think they mean "Don't take yourself too seriously... No one else does."

      DiV means this site?
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

            >_>; Friend #2 was joking (I think); he helped proofread my "Which Job Should I Play?" FAQ.

Anyway, I laughed at their comments, and it was a good reminder that a man who can't laugh at himself is either perfect, or a perfect prick.

Well, there is a little bit of wisdom in remembering that nothing here is worth worrying too much about.

                Re: Nothing like friends who...

I've actually been surprised and flattered at how much response I get in-game for my COR guide, I get a few tells each week from the more casual users/lurkers thanking me for it, questions from people new and in endgame. Some new players attracted to the game because of the job.

They came here or heard about FFXI and LBR via podcasts. I met people that even started on Titan just so they could ask me questions because they had seen my stuff (it sorta creeped me out). Since my move to Odin, its been pretty similar, though its to be more expected since Limit Break Radio players reside there.

Don't let your friends get you down, your guides are helpful and do matter, but if I were to give any advice in regards to your guides, it would be to promote your work on other forums through your sig, You will be surprised how many people will be drawn to sites such as this one in the future just because you promoted your work. People will click your sig and see what you had to say here on DiV.

I put the main version of my guide, and plan to do any future guide I may do, on Dreams in Vanadiel because I like the forum functions and format better than any other I've visited. The site traffic is moderate so you don't have to endure the chugging pace of KI and Alla or the sift-searching you'd have do on BG and even LBR. Its nice and clean.

So hats off to PiNG and company here for having such a well-run site overall.

I've been trying to convince the LBR staff to have job-specific forums rather than one big catch-all forum for jobs. Players have made guides and I want theirs to be spotlighted just as much as mine rather than just constantly rise, sink or fade into oblivion. At the same time, just making a huge list of stickies for each guide is not how I want to format the job forum.

Where is PiNG these days? I used to love watching his videos of the game before it came out in North America.

wow... sorry to hear such harsh words regarding your contributions. Thanks for the support!

I actually have a major plan under works, with couple people giving me pointers on how i should go about doing the next version of the site, which is over due couple weeks (due to warhawk). I'm personally always in contact with couple guys who are running communities for other games. I have things lined up to do, but just need to work on it.

Akosygin has been working on program for the community too. and planning to have it implanted by my next update.

I've usually been just poping in and out of comments section. I'm watching things...

I always appreciate your guides Itazura, it saves me time from having to explain everything 4-5 times a week.

ping: I can't wait to see what you have for us.

lol. Those are not vicious criticisms; those two yahoos are good friends.

Thanks for the concerns, though. m(_ _)m
