  • What ringtones do you use?

Today, a small boring series of events happened, which basically means I'm getting a new phone.

I'm trying to think of what ringtones I'm going to use.

    Songs I'm thinking about using:

Almost Any Pillows Song Ever (Best Band Ever)
-One with an awesome opening, as long as the cell phone speaker doesn't distort it. ROSS, March of the God, Sono Mirai wa Ima? Any other pillows fans here?
Motteke! Sailor Fuku (Lucky Star OP, catchy ass song but I've heard it in poor quality (youtube/crunchyroll) and it doesn't sound very good)
God Knows (TMHS insert, the intro to this would make an awesome ringtone. I tried it on my old phone, but it came out to something like "RAUAUAUUAUGUAHGUAHAUGHUAHGUHAUAGHUAHGUAUAUAAA" instead of music.)
Hare Hare Yukai (TMHS end song, another catchy song)
Pursuit ~ Cornered (Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban series. Objection!)

Also kinda thinking about some of FFXI or .hack//Sign music.

Anyone have suggestions (especially anyone else who likes the pillows)?

And of course the main subject, what you use personally.

Right now I have Polyamorous by Breaking Benjamin on my phone.
What phone are you getting, that could change what I'd suggest, since a lot of newer phones let you use your own music as ringtones rather than making you d/l theirs to use.

        Sayno SCP-3200 with Sprint

http://www.cdmatech.com/products/purevoice_download.jsp it seems to use this for the music, and the fact that they offer a converter for home PCs makes me think there's an easy enough way to transfer songs onto it (and if not, there are mobile download sites I've used on my old phones)

I only paid for download once or twice before I found out I could get my own songs from other sources for free.

I've read the spec here and it sounds basic. It does say it can have custom ring tones and you could transfere them via bluetooth. However the 4mb memory and lack of flash driver ( I couldn't see any mentioned in the spec) would limit you. You ahve 72 ring tones to choose from however, not that thats much good to you...

If you wanted a good phone (assuming they do this model out there) then the one I have a Sony Ericson W810i is a great buy as its a walkman as well can have MP3 ringtones, got a SD card slot ( I ahve a 512mb card in it that i got with the phone) and a USB cable to transfer files/music accross.

it is basic. I don't expect much from a phone except calls. Everything else is gravy.

I've been using the same phone for like two or three years, and it was basic when I bought it. Only reasons I'm replacing it is because it's very beat up, the battery is about as dead as castro, and I'm tired of the phone dialing itself when I sit down the wrong way.

I'd use this. I love this song!

I personally have Seether's "Remedy" for a ringtone, and Fear Factory's "Archetype" for my alarm.

How could anyone have ever guessed?

Lost my Music is also pretty good, but I don't think it's opening would make a very good ringtone. It starts off just a bit too slow before it gets into the good part.

Re: What ringtones do you use?

I liked being able to program my ringtones rather than download a generic one. In the past I had a FF Victory Theme Ringtone and Super Mario Bros. "Underground" theme ringtone.

Yeah, dorky, but I liked it.

you mean those old programmable nokias? That's alright I guess, but having premade midis and mp3s is better.

We're not talking about generic things here :D

Re: What ringtones do you use?

I have a Razr. But I just use bought ringtones, because I don't want to buy the $50 software that would allow me to put my own custom ringtones on my phone.

I'm tempted though, as even when I find a ringtone for a song I like, it's not necessarily the part of the song I want it to be.

Nice song, I like Breaking Benjamin.

My ringtone is a regular phone ring.

Because I hate ringtones. And I hate the ringtone ads, and I hate music that gets made just so new ringtones get done. >_>

People write songs just so they can be made into ringtones? Why not cut out the middle man and just write ringtones?

                            http://mobile17.com/

This site worked even on my ass-old phone, I'll be amazed if your razr doesn't work on it. And it's only one of dozens of free cell phone content sites I've seen. Just upload your own clip, it converts it, and sends it to your cell phone. There's a bit of a wait, but it's not bad for a free service.

http://www.3guppies.com/home this site looks promising too, but I've never tried it.

Basically my point is that it's a complete waste of cash to get software to transfer it.

I'll be honest. I've never bothered to look around. I did a quick search for how to put custom ringtones on my Razr back in February, and I haven't looked again.

So, it's not a huge issue for me. That said, I'll probably check that site out.
