People write songs just so they can be made into ringtones? Why not cut out the middle man and just write ringtones?

I was kinda ranting back there. But yeah sometimes that seems to be the case. Can't sell any CDs? Sell the ringtones!

Why writing songs for ringtones wouldnt cut it? Because they dont get on MTV, thusly they aren't cool enough.

I, erm, currently have the original battle music for Final Fantasy I as my ring tone...

Text message is Gene Hunt yelling "If you don't answer this phone, I'll come over yer house and stamp on all yer toys." Which causes absolutely hilarity in an open plan office...

I have a Sidekick III. It's a great phone, I actually like it. I use AIM, Email, Internet and Text Messages heavily, so I like it.

Now if only the phoning features of it didn't COMPLETELY SUCK ASS. The Speakerphone is terrible. The conference calling is retarded. And TMo has a closed system where you have to pay for EVERYTHING. TMo ring tones usually suck also, because it's usually a song you want, but the clip isn't long enough or it's the wrong portion.

Just saying, if you can customize your own ringtones, then that's a huge plus.

At the very least, the SK3 has MicroSD functionality, so you can have your own MP3s and Backgrounds and Pictures.

The Camera still sucks though.

Sad thing is that I'm probably going to get the SK SLDR (Slider. Motorola's SK3.5 pretty much.)

At least Danger knows how to make a proper SmartPhone OS. It even syncs with Outlook. That Windows Mobile is just straight crap. My two line brothers have phones with it (Sprint and Verizon) and freezing is all too common. /lol

The last actual song I used was "Ookami no Nodo" from Zombie-Loan but I like that song so much that it really bugged me cutting the intro short (didn't Konata say something about this? ).

It happened the same with a lot of songs I used (like God Knows) so I ended up using a mix between FF battle intro/endings and some MxO sound effects.

I used the FFX battle theme for a long time. Then I got a phone that sucks. It's tough to get anything to work on this phone so I usually just use generic rings. I think I've actually got the theme from The Godfather on there right now though.

By the way, anyone knows a good source of FF intro/battle/etc. songs? This thread made me remember I've wanted to get some new ringtones, because I don't have many of them.

I think once or twice a week, at like 4 in the morning the have an hour where they show actual music videos. I'm not sre vh1 shows them at all anymore. I'm really not sure how they even have the VMA's anymore, since noone ever sees the videos to vote on them.

At the moment I have a cheap, crappy phone with one nice feature -- per-contact rings and the ability to enter them manually. Haven't messed with trying to upload sampled stuff at all, but I do have a few ringtones in particular set up:

Forever Rachel (FFVI)
Retrospection (Suikoden II)
1st movement of Mozart's 40th Symphony

I also have Another World of Beasts (FFVI) and January Stars (George Winston) sitting in reserve (unassigned), in part because I couldn't quite work out the timing of a couple notes so they don't sound right.

I'll take a look at those sites, I suppose.
