So, just got off the phone with my car insurance company, and the number I was quoted by the man I spoke with on the phone was a little off.

This is understandable, after all, as my policy was up for renewal and policies always go up at renewal time, it seems. So I've been basically told by an agent there at the insurance company that I would be better off to shop around. Apparently, companies can't use themselves to count "continuous insurance coverage" when they calculate their rates. But every other company can. So this company can count that I've had six months of continuous coverage, but every other company can count a full year. Up until about six years of continuous coverage, it works this way.

So it had nothing - literally nothing - to do with my driving record, just that rates have been raised in Florida across the board - again - and that this company can only count me as "six months insured."

Hurray for learning things at midnight! And hurray for shopping again for auto insurance. Except not from Geico, because they send me junk mail twice a week and I'm tired of it. Are they that desperate for customers? And besides, they have not yet shown that they can save me 15% or more on car insurance.

Oh well. Here goes the insurance shopping game again.

You know, it's kind of weird seeing something like this. I actually knew this guy. I was in the same outdoor activity club that he was in. I sat next to him in a car on the way up the Finger Lakes in NY. I mean, I knew for a while that he died; I got an e-mail about it about 1 month after I graduated college.

Still, it's awkward to know that this happened to somebody I might have even considered a friend.

I've applied to several jobs over the past few days, and so far, the only place I've gotten a response from is company that, after doing a bit of research, was established in 2009. I'm not entirely sure I trust a company that is so young in such a shitty economy. Is that a valid concern? I'm inclined to go check it out anyway if I can get an interview. But my spidey senses are telling me it's probably not a secure bet.

So I had this vivid dream this morning right before I woke up and the maintenance workers started fucking around on the roof making a ton of noise.

Dream

I was with the guy I love. We were spending time together, having fun, but it was still during the "break" we were apparently taking. I was wearing this red skirt I love, that's all I remember in terms of clothing at the beginning. Somehow, we end up in bed together, even though I know that his new girlfriend is going to be coming over soon. (At this point it's not clearly established where we are. The room appears unfamiliar and the bed is situated in the corner of the room. This is where we are spending our time together.)

Somehow, I end up giving him head and then we have amazing sex, just like it always was. He tells me he loves me. I'm shocked but happy, I remember this, and I'm smiling back at him as I softly say it back. He still says that he has to go, pulls out and away, and starts to get dressed and head toward what I'd assume is the bathroom. I'm very reluctant for him to leave, as I always was when we'd get together. I always wanted more time with him. I'm left in the room by myself, which I establish is my bedroom at my mother's house. (The bed has never been in that corner before, though, which is the southwest corner of the room, at least in real life, which may or not be relevant.) I am looking to change my clothes.

I go in the closet and all these clothes are hanging up that I don't wear and that don't fit. (These are real clothes I owned at one point.) My mind processes that most of my clothes are all dirty still from some recent trip of some sort. Someone knocks. I've locked the door to my room (which is not possible in real life in the bedroom at my mom's house) and I answer, "I'm changing." I throw something on to be decent, open up the door, and there's my guy again standing there with some blonde woman who, at first glance, I decide isn't very pretty, and from some place in the universe I find her name is Casey (I don't know if this is real, I don't care to know quite honestly). I start rambling about the sweater I want to wear, which is still on the hanger, how it's got kind of a small hole in the stitching and how my boobs must be visible if I wear it and about how that's not a big deal, after all it's not like I'm going to school or work right and blah blah blah and I'm told to calm down by my guy who seems to insinuate that I'm acting nervous for no good reason. Even though we both know I have no real filter and just talk about anything.

Well of course I am, how do I react to meeting the woman who stole the man I love away from me so soon after i just slept with him, that's what my mind is thinking. Suddenly I'm leaving my room and as I turn to head down the stairs (my door was right across the hall from the stairs), I can see them already in my bed, which is now in the center of the north wall, and they're under the covers and obviously doing it, and I run down the stairs, image burned into my mind, thanks very much.

I complain to my parents (yes, my parents, who haven't lived together in more than 12 years) that they're having sex on my bed and - get this - I need to get back into my room because I really need to do my laundry! And I don't get why they can't just do it at his house, because it's only three miles away (well, from my apartment, this is truth) my dad starts to correct me, saying, "Well..." and I say, "Okay, eight." So I'm a bit deluded in this dream. My mom says nothing. I walk out of the living room and into the dining room and find the newspaper, from which I grab certain sections - it's apparently Sunday - and I can feel the whole house shaking and I wonder if my parents heard us doing our thing just a bit before that and then I'm suddenly in the bathroom and I see my birth control pack lying on the floor and I'm thinking to myself I was an idiot, I should have gone off the pill because he could have gotten me pregnant. (Apparently my dream self is a douche.) And then I woke up.

What does this even mean? I know I'm not dealing well with this, but did my subconscious really have to give me a mental image? My imagination was enough. I didn't need anything more than that.

So much for sleep.

As for the dream, try not to think to much about it. I have some pretty fucked up dreams all the time that make absolutely no sense yet seem to have some reflection in my life. Once I get occupied with something, it usually fades from my memory.
