I am really starting to question why we don't work second shift, honestly. We hardly ever get our work before 3PM. Then we're expected to bust our asses to finish it before 5, even though we most certainly can (and do) carry it over for the next day. I'd hate working nights and I'd definitely find another job in short order, but fucking hell, this position should be an evening one, with the way things work right now.

I wish that were an option for me here. Unfortunately, we get surprise audits on a fairly regular basis. Leaving work undone means returning to work to find out that your employee badge will no longer work.

We get surprise audits, too, but when they hand us 200 pieces (which isn't a lot divided by 3 people) at 3:45 on a Friday, we're not interested. And they're not paying overtime. And the audits rarely encompass work from the past week. It's usually the previous month, so we're given a bit of leeway as far as current work and being caught up.

As long as we count it and put it in the book, we're good. Just having it counted acknowledges that we've received it. When we were busyish a few weeks back and had some carryover work, we just kept it locked in the closet.
