Didn't you know? Most US networks (ok, virtually all of them) block their videos for people outside the US, so you get a "Video no available in your region" message instead. <_<;

Though I don't know if they only block them for Latin America, or for everyone else too.

I find this rather disturbing....

For the First Time, the TSA Meets Resistance - Jeffrey Goldberg - National - The Atlantic

Basically saying that if you opt out of the body imaging machine then the TSA peeps will be giving you a very thorough search where your legs meet, quite possibly in front of everyone at the airport.

I really do not like this because I see it as trying to intimidate people into the machine.

It's gone way too far. And they act like airplanes are the only place a terrorist attack is going to take place. They don't check you like this when you go to a sporting event. But a big stadium is a great place for a terrorist attack. No one pats me down and grabs my tits in the name of security there. Hell, they don't even check your bags in some of these places. Why is the airplane such a heavy focus? Is it the fear factor? Is it the 9/11 factor? Yes, they were used in a terrorist attack, so now the security is through the roof to get on a plane. But guess what? The terrorists aren't stupid. Think they'll try that one again? They may, but there are much less secure places they could do a LOT of damage. So now we focus all of our energy on airports and airplanes and very little anywhere else, making us even more vulnerable than we were in the first place.

Not saying the security wasn't lax before ... because it certainly was ... but focusing so narrowly can only lead to the terrorists making some other plan, and succeeding.

And yes, I do support upping security in a lot more places than it is. I'm just not terribly certain that ball-cupping is the answer. Actually, I'm sure it's not. And the first time someone touches me below the belt will be the last time I take an airplane anywhere.

That's where our focus is because that where their focus is, or, at least, that's where we believe it is based on whatever intel we're getting from wherever we're getting it from.

Airport security is still horribly ineffective. As I was discussing with my aunt this weekend, all the weapons you need to hijack the plane can be acquired after takeoff. They're not accomplishing anything by groping people other than sexual harassment.

And admittedly, you can't really hijack a stadium and send it hurtling into a building like a giant flying bomb. Then again, bringing explosives into a tightly packed stadium or arena is probably going to hurt and kill a LOT of people. So, you know, you kind of have a point.

And admittedly, you can't really hijack a stadium and send it hurtling into a building like a giant flying bomb. Then again, bringing explosives into a tightly packed stadium or arena is probably going to hurt and kill a LOT of people. So, you know, you kind of have a point.

In an indoor arena, like a hockey rink, all you'd have to do is find the ventilation system and get a gaseous agent. After just a few minutes of it going through the vents, the damage will have been done to a good portion of the people present. Plenty will die. If it happens to be a biological weapon (disease), it will infect others if the area is not quickly quarantined and people manage to escape with the germs already attacking their system. It would be very possible to effectively create an epidemic - even a pandemic - at a sporting event.

Hell, even moreso if the disease has an incubation period. Give someone a disease that won't start really killing you until it's been in your system a few days. Then let all these people leave their hockey game and go home to their families. Not all of them will be local fans, so that will spread the disease throughout other metropolitan areas. And everyone you come in contact with gets infected, and everyone they come in contact with ... that would seriously fuck shit up. And it would be very effective.

And yes, I do watch a lot of History/Discovery/Science Channel.
