So I decided that since I'm hella broke and I can't really afford to go out and do anything fun (hell, even just going for a drive is costing me money, so that's out), I'm going to spend my evenings and weekends playing a free MMO. Because while I'd probably have fun revisiting WoW, I can't afford the monthly fee right now. And FFXI is out, too, because I have no account. And XIV .... hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha no.

So I'm going to tinker around with a few and see if there's one I like. It doesn't even matter if it can't hold my interest that long, considering I will be mostly a casual gamer at this point anyway, and I have no desire to get sucked in the way I did with both XI and WoW, it's just something to kind of suck up some of my alone/bored time and fuck it, I miss MMOing.

I have decided since I'm not hella broke and can totally afford to go out and have fun that I am going to stay home and get drunk for cheap while watching TV on Netflix. Woo! Party up in Murphie's apartment! (Except I cannot have any guests, because my roommate is weird. So it's a party of one.)

Mostly I just don't feel like going out. I'm not looking to date, or hook up, or anything. I just want to meet friends. But a bar isn't the place to do that. Or so I have learned.

See I could like totally go out and get some drinks for free because I have these boob things but I can't be assed to get dressed up and go anywhere. And my truck in its aged state is probably not the best machine to take with me if I plan to drink even the smallest bit of alcohol. And gas costs money.

None of my friends are answering my texts. I'm very bored ... and I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my phone or if everyone is ignoring me.

Murphie, not looking to meet friends at a bar? Or not looking to meet NEW friends at a bar? If you can find a nice fairly quiet bar, then hanging with friends can be fun. Meeting new friends (like friends of a friend) at a bar has typically ended up badly.

Meeting new friends, Caspian. Bars aren't the place to make new friends. Well, this one bar I go to on Wednesdays, but that's more of a social thing, during happy hour, and people aren't a.) shitfaced, 2.) looking to hook up, and iii.) high. Or maybe they are, but it's just generally more low-key.

Friday and Saturday nights at the bar are not times to socialize with strangers. And all of my friends are busy.

My life is pretty boring.

Tch. Your life is boring? Having moved back to PA from NY, my life currently follows a routine of driving an hour-long to my classes, sitting there for my hour-long class, waiting three hours for my three hour-long class, then driving back home. For an hour-long.

I gotta make new friends...

Well, things aren't so bad, I guess. On Monday I will be officially single for one year. October 18th of last year a really, really (REALLY) shitty relationship ended. And at the time I was like "Oh noes, how awful, I am destroyed and my life is over!", but now? Totally glad that it happened. He was an asshole. Tangentially, today is his 34th birthday. I only remembered that a few hours ago. Which is progress, I suppose.

ANYWAY, the point of all of that is that I'm glad I'm single. I have been on a few dates, and have had some folks I've been interested in since, but I am really happy being single right now. I'm focused on other aspects of my life that relate directly to me (school, work, fitness, finances, etc.) and I'm happy about that. But I seriously need to work on the friend part of my life. I have, at most, three, but more likely two friends here. The vast majority of my "friends" are of the online variety. Cincinnati is just very conservative and sort of backwards, and the gay community sort of reflects that, so making friends here is hard. Acquaintances are easy. I have a lot of those. But as for people I can count on to regularly hang out with? Yeah, not so much.

Geez, I get ramble-y sometimes.

If you have Steam installed (or you can install it for free here: Welcome to Steam) you can find some free games and there's a community there if you just want to shoot the breeze (or something)

Also just have an account at various game sites and you can sometimes get closed beta keys and you can play those MMO for free. I keep getting beta invites from Aeria Games but I haven't any time to try any of that stuff out.
