I'm not that worried about it. I was told I could have the afternoon as long as we weren't busy, since there's no way to know our actual volumes until the day of. So it was up in the air anyway, and only three of us being on that "team" back there means that I have less leeway to leave than some of the other people. As it is, some of the other people are going to have to help out for the next few weeks until they get a replacement.

And I hope I train that person, because no one knows that job better than me.

And on the plus side, I am almost assured to get overtime tomorrow thanks to this. I haven't seen overtime since February. Most of my packing is done, really I wanted the afternoon off to destress more than anything. Since they are removing one of my major sources of stress (I hate incompetent people), I should be all right tomorrow afternoon.

Also, a lot of the reason they couldn't/wouldn't do anything before was they had no proof. I had gone to the bosses about the "not checking" thing (which is a HUGE deal, btw) but they couldn't prove it. She was sneaky - would be sure to check the work every time a supervisor was around, but would go right back to slacking off when they left. So I knew she was doing it on purpose. I started logging my own work to cover my ass just in case something went out fucked up, but still there was no proof, her desk was in a camera "blind spot" so finally, they caught her coming in the door at 7:30 but putting 6:30 on her timesheets.

Hey, if that's what it takes to get rid of her, that works for me.

Oooooooook......a 10 minute drive just took 2 1/2 hours!!!!

We got 7 inches of rain in an hour and a half on the northside and, of course, I was coming back from there at that time. So the freeway starts slowing down, not too big of a surprise at that time until we come up to the underpass. Water...and lots of it. There we sat for 2 hours but I had my vindication in that time. I'm constantly teased about carrying my DSiXL, PSP, and iPad with me everywhere. My cellphone not so much because everyone does. But there I am in a car, for TWO HOURS, in a horrific storm and who's streaming the news on her nifty iPad? Oh ya, thats me! lol Who has little fluff games on her PSP and DS to pass the time? Oh ya, thats me! lol And by the time it was over, I think Apple will be selling another iPad and I convinced a mom that a DS is not the devil and another that the XL is WAY better than the original DS. Score one for the geeks! (And if they even think of teasing me about my conglomerate of devices ever again....)

The storms here though are really horrendous. We were up and down from the basement 3 times. At one point we had a very large funnel go right over us. We were sitting in the living room watching the news and it started blowing so hard it damn near blew the fan right out of the window. My son quickly got up and went to the kitchen window and at the same time the sirens went off. Then I saw people from the church across the street running to their houses/cars like mad men. At this point it was quite noisy with the sirens, people yelling, tv on, and wind blowing so my son had to yell that the police were going down the street with the lights on yelling at the people to get back inside and get in the basement immediately. It was pretty crazy.

And people complain about the storms here in the UK >.< Glad your safe TGM, we hardly get funnels but we do get the heavy rain, 2 inches was dumped on us in an hour yesterday and I was happy as it colled the air down making it more comfortable for me.

Hopefully my nasa mattress topper arrives today, 75mm of 75kg/m3 denisty memory foam. I should sleep better tonight.

Today was a long day, as anticipated, but on the plus side, when I was asked by my other "team" member about why the other girl was no longer there, I told her something that wasn't true but that would scare her into working harder and being less of a fuck up. Mean? Probably, but effective. She's seen four people get fired in the seven months since she's been here, and she doesn't want to be on that list, so while she's slow on the uptake and basically just slow at her work, she gets the job done with minimal complaint and hasn't really given any reason to fire her. However, because I'm fed up by her slowness/incompetence/etc., I'm always looking for clever ways to get her to stop sucking.

First, why does she ask me? I'm not in charge. I didn't fire the other girl, and I (should) have no idea why she was fired. I actually do know why, but I kind of guessed it and the supervisor kind of let on that I was right. And secondly, there's pretty much no way on earth she'll ever find out the real reason, so I used it to my advantage.

And it looks like I'll be training the new person, when we get them. Which is good, because letting anyone else do it would be retarded.

So, I went out on a date last night, intending to break up with this guy I've been seeing, and after the dinner (which I paid for), he stopped the conversation to tell me that while he liked me, he just wasn't interested in dating me. GDI. I hate being break-up blocked.
