While I'm here I would also like to complain about Best Buy charging $10 to recycle CRT's. Especially since there is no where else around that does electronics recycling around here.

I don't see anything wrong with that. They have to fund the recycling facilities somehow.

Granted, we pay for the recycling fee at the time of purchase instead of at the time of disposal.

Like, you know, by selling the materials they harvest which are then recycled into other components.

But no, they make much more money off charging consumers AND producers.

To be fair, some of that (and most of what people get nowadays, since recycling centers have shifted from cutting in consumers to charging on both sides since enough people are guilty about it nowadays) is from costs added when they're purchased, and refunded afterwards. Which is why sometimes you'll see bottles declaring different recycling values in different states.

of course, there's no way to establish which state a bottle or can originated in, so people that live near state lines can exploit the system pretty easily.

I always figured part of that was government subsidies, but even that being the case, take recycling strait scrap metal. You get paid more when the price of that metal goes up, and less when it goes down. The recycler is still making a profit on it.

At the very least, Bust Buy could make it a free program, which is all I would ask.

/Still take those damn monitors to get recycled.

Going out on a date tonight. I am excited! It's going to be hot out though, and we're going to this free art show at this huge warehouse with no AC, so that should be fun.

Sometimes when I get one of those word verification captchas, I put in a word I know is wrong in the hopes that one day enough other people put in equally wrong replies and the system eventually winds up writing something that sounds like Wikipedia vandalism.

There is one thing I can think of that it is never too hot to do. Actually two.

Sex was the first one (cause sweaty sex can be quite hot, especially followed by a shower together), and having a cold beer was the other.

Random aside: my brother just bought a house. In his bathroom, he has a shower head on both sides of his shower. As sensual as taking showers together seems, it ends up just rotating who's cold at any given moment. My brother's dual-shower head: the cause of great jealousy.

I had a dual shower head like that once. It was indeed wonderful.

TGM: Funnily enough, as sweet and wonderful as the date was, it ended outside my apartment as it should have. Then I tried to go in and found my roommate had locked the door because he had someone over, and I had to go sit in an all night coffee shop and read for hours. My roommate is the classiest.

Oh! And I took some photos, but they suck. We went to this amazing working artists studio in this warehouse. You ride the elevator to the top, and go through all the galleries, taking the stairs down as you go. I stopped on floor 7 to take a few photos.





So much amazing art to be seen there. I only wish I could have afforded some of it.

Then we walked down main street, which is dotted with shops and more galleries and amazing little cafes, and hit up the square, where they were having an indie rock concert. I took some pics, but the floodlights washed them out too much. Then the Reds beat Cleveland (/completelackofsurprise), and it was fireworks night so we walked down to the river to watch them. :D

I want one of these showers, we installed them into a 5* hotel we did 2 years ago, fits in teh ceiling. expensive though £4k a shower!

I want one of those showers that just sprays water all over you from all directions, to be honest. I mean, I'm sure it's a huge waste of water, but whatever. I enjoy my showers.
