      I've seen others in Canada say the same thing. Oddly, my Mac running Safari 5 doesn't show it either, but the Linux machine right next to it running Firefox does.

        Waiting for someone to hack it and throw down some unbelievably inappropriate images on there.

            Isn't it funny how impatient we've become? I know the other day our connection was slow and I was exaggerating "OMG its taking 5 minutes for this page to load!!" It was more like 45-60 seconds but to me it seemed like an eternity. At those times I must remind myself of the connection speeds I used to get in the early 80's and just remember how lucky I am!

                Its not even about the time that it adds, though being completely unnecessary makes it irritating as hell, but imagine you're paying by the kb transfered, say for instance on a cell phone data or tethering plan.

                      If you tether then you take what you get. Most websites are graphics intensive so the point about one site using a graphic is asinine.

                          I didn't say it was ok but it is asinine to whine about it in this day and age. It didn't get us anywhere back in the day and its not going to now. Besides, if you are tethering with a limited data plan then you're an idiot.

                              There is no such thing as an unlimited plan in the US. Both AT&T and Verizons 'Unlimited' plans are limited to 5GB. Well, AT&T's was, they no longer offer even that.

                              I would venture a guess that most people tethering are doing it for professional reasons, there are plenty of sites that are not 'web 2.0 zomg multimedia' abominations that are immensely useful.

                                I have unlimited with Sprint. I verified this before subscribing. If people are doing it for professional reasons then their company funds the bill or gives them an allowance.
