Mercifully, the use of them is kept to a minimum on FFXIonline.com, which I no doubt has something to do with why I'm still there. Most of the time, when I do see them here, it's used in some unobnoxious way that I don't care much for.

Question everyone: How does that live vana'diel camera work? Where does that camera go? Is it showing one particular server or all of them?

I can't view it at work, and I watched it once at home and it looked like it was floating through Bastok, then it just froze in place for a few minutes and I turned it off.

That would be a cool feature if I could steer it and watch my friends play or something. Or at least pick what server I want to see.

Please keep in mind that I keep tabs on what annoys posters in case I should ever want to drive them out. I think I'm up to 4-6 successfully trolled off DIV so far.

It's just a floating camera on rails, attached to a streaming video service. It's all predetermined (except when they rarely decide to show something else, like their offices), and shows Atmos (test server)

Aw, bummer. I thought it'd be neat to catch someone you know while watching the camera.
It'd be even more fun if the camera were visible in Vana'Diel! Then you could see it floating by and wave at anyone currently watching.

But I'm silly like that. Most people would probably just ignore it.

I don't think it'd be bad. A small camera, twice as high as any Galka's head? Wouldn't get in the way. And what're the odds it'd be floating through your area?

Regardless. Not gonna happen. Not a worthwhile feature for them to spend time on.

He means that people would flock to the camera by the dozens and act like jackasses in front of it, much like on TV.

I had a new topic in mind for this thread. Since this thread is called "Bored at work..." , I thought I'd ask what you guys all do? How many of us are actually posting from work?

I'm in a cubicle from 7am to 4pm, I'm a software developer. How 'bout you guys?
