Economics to ATC doesn't sound like a normal career move.

Crash the economy then crash some planes?

You'd be surprised, all you need is a 4 year degree to be an ATC, doesn't matter what. Same with if you want to be captain of a plane instead of copilot, you need a 4 year degree, doesn't matter what.

Besides, I wouldn't have crashed the economy quite the way that it was crashed

And Feba, I should have been a bit more clear. From what I have seen so far the school's admin department has completely dropped the ball on alot of things. I doubt it's the case that the avaition department has dropped the ball, because I'm seeing alot of things that the admin department should have done or taken care of by now that just hasn't happened.


Oh, but to help give you confidence in the next wave of ATCs and pilots who are taking these classes with me....

We had our first test in the pilot ground school class the other day. Now there is a small FAA approved booklet that comes with the PGS Test prep book. This booklet contains diagrams and figures that are needed for this class and if you want to take the private pilot exam afterwards. The book that the booklet comes with is required for this class too. First day, teacher said that you need this book/booklet in order to take the tests, so make sure you get it if you haven't. Every singe day he told us that the first test was going to be last Monday, and to get this booklet.

Test day comes, and what do I hear as we sign in to the computers to take the test?

"I don't have the booklet" "Wait, what booklet?" "We were supposed to bring that?" "I never got that" "Whaaa?"

So they had to either wait for the teacher's spare booklet to get to them in order to take the test, or share a booklet with another student (like hell I'm sharing testing materials during a test, I brought my booklet with me you should have done so as well, I'm not risking my grade for you) So while they had to wait I got to take the test, and be done before some of them even started.

Too, they could have just memorized the answers for the questions. We have a pool of questions that we will be asked from, so we've seen them all before. May not be the best way to learn but if they really wanted to pass that test they could have done it, but they didn't and I'd guess between 1/4 to 1/3 of the people in the class didn't bring their testing booklet.

Then consider that the class size is.... 40+ people I think? It's two classes that got combined. One class was full and the other was slightly under half full, and since the college is having cutbacks they made the teacher combine the two classes into one.

hate my car. Each winter this car gets worse.

Been frozen out of getting to work for about four hours now, damn thing just won't crank at all.

I'd be worried about losing my job over this damn car, but seems like my company likes the wage slaves like me and is bumping off the full-timers they paid more instead. Class act, that place, glad they didn't offer me a full position.

And the temps shall inherit the workload...

Back when I was in college, we had this wide open parking lot. If it was cold outside the wind would whoop your ass as you were trying to walk to the door that was a football field and a half away. It was so cold outside this one day that my doors froze shut and I could not get them open to leave and go home. So I went outside yanking on the door for about 3 mins and got so cold that I had to go back inside to warm up my hands, and I had on gloves. What pissed me off was, the campus security saw me standing outside yanking on the door and didn't even come over to make sure I wasn't trying to break into the car . So I finally got the doors open and that never happened again because my dad fixed the door.

I live in Flint, MI and it was -10 outside at 5:30 when I woke up today with a -28 wind chill. All the schools got cancelled and the ISD where I work was closed too so I didn't have to go in this morning. I was glad too because I was sure that my car wouldn't start since it was too cold outside. 90% of the time when its cold outside either it'll crank slowly or not at all. We put the charger on it last night, so it most likely would've started today, but if we hadn't I'm pretty sure it wouldnt.

LOL I think i posted about that in the RL Pet Peeves topic, but our system is the exact same way. ffxiah used to not be blocked where I work, but the admins must believe it is some type of auction site. It says *This site is blocked Auction 01* when you try to go to it.

This cold wave we're having is actually a blessing for me. My daughter occupies the downstairs of our house and while she's there I choose not to go down there. (If you knew my daughter, you'd understand why.) So I've been sequestered in my bedroom now for over a year and it gets damn hot upstairs! It's over 90 degrees in my room at this time of night..........but not since this cold snap! YIPPEE!! It's a nice 70 degrees up here now and I'm loving it!
