RAWR! At work with a sore throat that has a 90% chance to turn into the Flu by tomorrow. I just need to hold on for 8 more working days, and I'll have 2 weeks off. I could take a day or two sick time, but I really need to be at work this week...I'm the data entry person and the world would fall apart if I wasn't here for a day lol.

I'm right there with you. My throat is sore, glands are swollen, I have an earache, and generally feel like dog shit. The bad part is, with my weakened immune system, when I get sick its for 2-3 times longer than anyone else. Top this with severe anemia and a full week before Christmas I'll be baking my rearend off (now in one of those damn surgical masks ><) and its a recipe HELL!!!

Dang TGM. The last two times I got sick, I had Bronchitis. I ended up taking off longer than I was supposed to off because with me having Asthma I didn't want it to go from Bronchitis to Pneumonia. Then too, the last time they gave me some Steroidal meds, to open up my lungs, that they told me would make me feel "off". She didn't explain if that meant off as in crazy or off as in loss of balance... Last thing I needed was to go to work and yank somebody's teeth out.

I have mild asthma too that I only have trouble with around smokers or heavy dust. So of course, it flared up when I started smoking back in the day. The doctor gave me prednisone and WHOOO BOY did things get interesting! LOL (For people that don't suffer from asthma, prednisone is a steriod that can cause extreme hyperactivity in sensitive people.) I remember one day vividly. I had cleaned the entire house to the point it was almost sterile and decided to go outside and do yardwork. We had a front and a back lawn that wasn't huge but took usually about 45 minutes to mow. Then there were hedges to clip and weeds to wack so about an hour and a half job. I went out there and did it in 30 minutes. lololololol I just remember my young son was in the house with his little face pressed up against the living room window crying as I was clipping the hedges in front of the window like a mad woman with branches and leaves flying everywhere. Ahhhhhhh.....a Kodak moment!

Time to provide TGM with more entertainment and hours of side splitting laughter!

So I'm looking into being an Air Traffic Controller as a job, have been kinda interested since hearing about it.

Now there are two ways to go about that for a person with no experience like myself. One is to get hired on as a trainee by the FAA, and the other is to go through training at an FAA certified school. While I've seen openings for people with training, I haven't seen any openings for the trainee position until last week, so I've been toying with the idea of going to a school that does this.

Turns out, there is a community college nearby that offers this training, great I think! Just in case I don't get accepted into the FAA program I'll apply to take classes at this college! So off I go to get more info!

But first, to drop off some stuff that my sister forgot at her work.

On my way there the truck shows some problems, and I think I may need to take it in to get fixed. However after I drop the stuff off for my sister and start up the truck again, it works fine, so I'm thinking now that maybe it's ok. So off I head to college.

Moderately long story short, I have issues with the truck when I get close to the college and when my business there is done the truck dies on me.

And for the record, it is fricking cold, ice and snow everywhere.

No problem says I, I have AAA, they'll get me a tow truck out here in no time! So I call 'em and I'm told that it will be 2-3 hours before they can come get me. Well I ask, how about tow truck companies that are not affiliated with you? 2-3 hours is rather unreasonable to wait. They don't know of any and I'm told I get to look the tow companies up. Wonderful, and just how do I do that pray tell? I tell them that's what I'll do but to send a tow truck out anyway in case I am unsuccessful.

I hang up, and about 10 minutes later I get a phone call asking if I still wanted that tow truck to come get me. Yeah, yeah I think I do.

Sadly this is an area I don't know, so I can't really leave the truck to wait somewhere warmer, mostly because there isn't anyplace that I can see nearby, and also because I'd be worried about my cellphone reception, since I need to be there when the tow truck arrives. So I'm stuck waiting in the cold.

Oh, and keep in mind. When I say it's cold, I mean it's freezing and probably what other people would call negative Kelvin. I used to play in the snow in shorts and a tshirt. I go for walks and maybe a little ice skating without a coat in light clothing when other people are bundling up and I call it "brisk". So when I say it's cold, it is really, really cold.

3+ freezing hours later, a tow truck comes and picks me up. Unfortunately it's a Russian driver who while quite nice had a little difficulty understanding me and I had a little difficulty understanding him. This is also an area that neither of us is familiar with, so in short we're both lost.

But no problem! He has the Verizon funky phone that acts like a GPS and gives directions! But he's either out of their service area or not getting any signal, not sure which, so he can't get any directions. Wooo.

We finally get directions, and off we go. I should probably mention that this driver didn't seem to know how to drive stick shift (neither do I though, but I don't drive 'em) and waxed on quite philosophically about the evils of gambling once we passed the Muckleshoot casino. Nice enough guy but his driving made me rather nervous.

That was a couple of days ago and the people at the car place still haven't figured out what's wrong with the truck. And at least yesterday it seemed to be working fine now and they can't figure out why or what went wrong earlier. But since they know something was wrong they're still looking into it.

So yeah, fun times
