Sooo, been an interesting few days lately.

Last Thursday, I hear that my Uncle has been hit by a car, and that they are taking up to Seattle for treatment and surgery on Friday. In the meantime, relatives gather at my cousin's house in Ballard and no one knows exactly what happened. But since my Uncle was calling people on his cellphone, we assume he can't be in that bad a condition.

We get to visit him on Saturday and hear the story. Seems he was crossing the street while in a crosswalk, a car was stopped for him, and as he stepped beyond it, another car came speeding up and changed lanes to go around the stopped car, hitting my Uncle, and sending him flying roughly 35 feet, breaking his pelvis in the process.

The amazing thing is, 2 pins and 1 screw later, he's up and moving around (painfully, very painfully) by Saturday. We drop in on Monday to visit and he's doing even better, and he should have been released today from the hospital.

And while he does have some various scrapes, bruises, and a mild concussion, he's alive and doing rather well all things considered. He's got that roguish twinkle back in his eyes, so people beware!

He'll be back to tweaking the cat's whiskers, and getting his nose bitten off in the process, in no time at all

I'm SO sorry to hear of your uncle's misfortune! What a horrible and irresponsible thing for someone to do with nearly 2 tons of steel! I'm glad to hear he's bouncing back quite well though. ^^ My best to all of your family during this stressful period in everyones life.

Okie, that got a good laugh from me

Not yet, looking through his options and what has to be done, and finding a lawyer. They've also been looking through their state laws to try to get a better idea of their standing in the courts.

I'm still mildly amused and outraged though. I believe it was the insurance company of the driver who hit him, they wanted to try to settle with my Uncle, and from my understanding they were really pressing to try to settle with him, shortly before he went into surgery while he was both in pain and pretty high on pain killers.

On the other hand though, I must say that for a horrible occurance that this has gone really well. My cousin Jacob just started a two week vacation the day before this happened, so he can spend alot of time with Uncle Dan, and he's about 20-30 minutes from the hospital where my Uncle is staying. Jacob has a big enough house that can fit the whole clan, although someone might be stuck sleeping in the hammock outside, just hope that it doesn't rain

And just, everything really. The injuries could have been far worse, the entire family can visit him, although not all can stay for very long since they live pretty spread apart and may not be able to get much time off from their jobs. And it happened at a time where Jacob can be there and take care of him.

In addition to that, the staff at Harborview took their time in thinking about how to do the surgery, and what the best way to go about it would be. Especially since my Uncle wanted bloodless surgery. They just made a few small incisions and stuck some hardware into him. The other hospital that they were thinking of taking him to was thinking of opening him up and rebuilding his innards and basically making him into the Million Dollar man. And while the thought of an indestructable pelvis appealed to him, the surgery for said pelvis did not.

So yeah, we've got alot to be thankfull for over here.

so I was looking at my library's catalog, and they have Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Estimated wait time: 498 days.


So I mean, you could hold off on spending $30 or so by waiting until 2010 to play it.
