Microwaves are for heating up canned food and reheating leftovers. I've tried all types of recipes with the microwave and I can't say that I'd reccomend any of them to anyone. The best was a fudge I would make using the microwave but thats just basically melting chocolate and adding ingredients to it.

I recently bought a microwave/grill/combination over all in one small unit.

I only use the microwave portion for nuking some left overs or things like steaming veg (I have a microwave veg steamer) it works really well.

Unless were cooking a large chicken, we do most standard oven cooking in this using the convection oven setting, which basically is a fan oven. The reason being is that this only uses 3kw to power compared to 10KW for the main large oven on my cooker. which saves energy. The large oven is only used for cooking now when we have guests over for dinner.

Cooking is synonymous with preparing food and heating it. You made a lunch, or you prepared a lunch, however you did not cook it.

To prepare (food) for eating by applying heat.
To prepare or treat by heating: slowly cooked the medicinal mixture.

Also, an attempt was made to differentiate between 'actually cooking the food' and 'increasing its temperature,' which is all both a microwave and a conventional oven do. Therefore if one cooked food, so did the other.
