My daughter dumped one similar to yours. First off he gets SSI because he's 25 with a bad back and asthma. Ok, those are valid reasons BUT he smokes pot.....with BAD asthma. He's bipolar but refuses to take his medication. And that bad back....well lets just say I have one and I've seen this kid do things with his bad back that no one with one would even think of doing.

He is in the process of turning his son against his mother (my daughter). We were treated the other day to my grandson coming home and saying some shocking things to his mother. He didn't want to come home because with his father its like living in Candyland. He can stay up as long as he wants, do whatever he wants, eat whatever he wants, say whatever he wants, etc. No rules, no boundaries.

So he comes in the door and has the FU attitude and refuses to take off his coat and shoes. His mother firmly says to take them off again and the kid looks at her and says "I'm going back by Daddies, I hate you, and I'm going to pour gas on you and kill you." So she calls the father and he denies watching something unappropriate in front of the kid or telling the kid to say that. His excuse "Oh he was in my stepfather's garage by a drum of gas and we told him to stay away from it because it could kill him." HUH?? Ok...let's accept that and move on. The next day he says "I'm going to suck out all of your blood until you die!" Now did they have a big vat of blood in the same garage?? or was there something else afoot?

EDIT: Oh ya forgot to add that this guy has had pages up on the internet talking about how he's an Ice Phoenix/God. He's as powerful as God because God made him that way. He's also a vampire and other various imaginary beings. He's immortal....yadda yadda yadda <insert insane babble>

It's a constant battle with the father and it just wears you down until you feel like you can't take it anymore and you want to give up but then you look at that innocent face and you know you can't. So yes, I know Aks....too well.

Trust me, I'm good with kids...this is nothing that a solid backhand can't fix.

Edit: On a somewhat serious note, while violence doesn't solve most problems, to be blunt when someone really fucked my mom over back in the day she would have some aquaintances fuck them up pretty good, let's just say noone has every done anything really shitty to my mom twice. Just an option as a single mother, because really they are prime targets for being treated like shit.

LOL Wish, I wish it were that easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm from the school of "spare the rod and spoil the child". I raised my kids that way and they are wonderful upstanding young people. They even say now that they are glad I was so strict because they see the problems that their friends had/have. I also have a VERY close and open relationship with my adult children which many of my friends do not have. But my daughter for some reason, forgot all the rules she had and let her kids grow up wild.................because she's LAZY.

Granted they are only 2 and 5 right now but that 5 yr old is going to be holy hell to get back into line! Take this advice from me everyone, a child's formative years up to the age of 5 are the absolute most important. If you are strict with them in these ages, you'll have a lot less work in the following years because you've formed a solid base.

So now its hell for the 5 yr old living at grandmas. I follow the 3 strikes and you are out rule.



1st strike: Act up, I yell/talk at you and explain why you are being yelled at:

Me: You do not pull the cat by the tail. That hurts him! He could get mad and bite you too! Do not do it again or you will get punished if you do. Do you understand?



2nd strike: Another yell/talk and a time out on the couch/chair. I then tell him to explain to me why he's on the chair so I know he understands what he's up there for.

Me: Alex, did you do something bad?

Alex: Uh huh

Me: Say yes or no.

Alex: Yes

Me: What did you do that was bad.

Alex: I was playing with the cat.

Me: No, what you did was not playing. What you did was bad, remember. What did grandma tell you not to do?

Alex: Pull the cat's tail.

Me: So what did you do that was bad Alex?

Alex: Pulled the cat's tail.

Me: Are you going to do it again?

Alex: No.

Me: Ok, good boy, you get 5 minutes of time out in the chair so be good. (For time outs always go 1 min for every year and make sure you aren't setting them in front of a tv for pete's sake. Put them in a room that it boring and keep an eye on them.)



3rd strike: Another yell/talk and a smack. By then they are doing it on purpose because you have explained to them not to do it and why and made them tell you what they did that was bad. So they know its bad but they chose to do it anyway. Three strikes and you're out. Additional punishment besides a smack are sometimes in order also like taking away a favorite toy or no snack, etc.

There are plenty of rules here and her 5 yr old goes out of his way to break them. He has gotten better than when he first came here, so don't get me wrong. We've made a huge difference already. But we are at that hardest stage. He's given in to most of the easier stuff (picking up toys, sitting up at the dinner table, etc.) but now its the bigger things and the harder stuff that the fight is on for. His mouth is a HUGE obstacle. And a side effect of his behavior is that the 2 yr old, who looks up to him, imitates him. When the 5 yr old isn't around, the 2 yr old is WONDERFUL. But when the 5 yr old is home, it's double trouble. So the sooner the 5 yr old tows the line, the less issues with the 2 yr old.

My daughter kind of gets this. She sees the huge difference its made so far but her biggest problem is............SHE'S F'IN LAZY! Instead of follow the 3 strikes, which I've taught her and she knows from living it, she just yells and yells and yells. She's too lazy to get her ass up and actually interact with her kids and talk to them and give them time outs. She ignores their bad behavior when its not convienent for her because she's LAZY. She annoys me the most. If she wasn't here and her kids were, trust me they'd be much better behaved by now.
