  • Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread

I watched Charmed when it first came out.

Honestly, when I was only at the tender age of 10, I was turned on by Shannen Doherty. She was probably the second "older-women" I fantasized about - Janet Jackson being the first.

I never thought Holly Marie Combs was that attractive, and Alyssa Milano was damn near guaranteed fap-age for a show like that.

But then the themes got too complicated for me, and I stopped caring. 1998 was the year I finally got a Playstation of my own (Late bloomer) and the only game I had was FF7. >_> The rest is history.

Holly Marie Combs's character got a lot more attractive after Shannen Doherty left.

Anachronistic fantasy shenannigans with three attractive women was ok to vegitate on, but eventually the extremely formulaic plots got to me. My wife would try to tell me about an episode and I'd be like "Uh huh, and then did this happen? Yeah, I bet it did."

I watched Buffy and Angel, Charmed was way too far for me though, especially after the 2nd season, it got really, really cheesy.

I still think Andromeda had one of the better storylines of my generation (I'll be 21 this summer). I'm not going to compare it to BSG, but that, as far as I'm concerned, was before my time.

And I love Sorbo almost as much as I love Omni.

Never watched much Andromeda. What ever happened to Kevin Sorbo anyway?

At least for the first 3 seasons Nip/Tuck was hands-down the most engrossing TV show I had seen in a long, long time, I never finished the 4th one though as it seemed they started jumping the shark when they brought in the midget.

And fuuuuuuck I don't want to do the Pokeman Snap action tonight, going to try and round up some ZNM trigs on alt as I seek a PLD party on main. :/

I'm currently trying to work out a carefully crafted schedule to fit in both my PLD XP and RDM merits. Either that or I'm going to just down a gallon of coffee the next 2 nights and just merit in every spare moment that I have until I pass out some time Sunday.

I drink coffee to survive Dynamis. I nodded off for about 20 minutes in Dynamis Bastok. >_>

Good thing the other two PLDs and the RDMs in the LS are awesome.

We were moved on past the AH to the Gustaberg zone, and When I woke up, they were by the Galka slums..

I usually nab some ice cream or some other tasty sweets before dynamis, helps me keep active. Though also, increases likely hood of linking ;x

I like to warm up for Dynamis with an early round of yelling at people for running late, followed by yelling at people to be on the correct jobs.

After that I generally spend a few minutes yelling at people to shut the hell up about why we are doing the zone we're doing instead of the one they want or why they can't lot AF that they aren't high enough to use yet, then follow it up with a reminder that if they do anything retarded inside I'll have them D2'd.

Once I'm past that I'm usually worked up enough to last the first hour or so, from there I rely on various reasons to yell at people during the run to maintain the energy level.

I loved Buffy (I have all 7 seasons on VHS) and watch it quite often, favourite episodes is Hush, doppelganger and Once more with feeling.

Never got on with angel or charmed though.

On teh sci-fi thing the latest season of Dr who (donp;t know if you are watching season 4 of teh new doctor whos yet in the US) is quite weird some great episodes some WTF episodes, but is apparently goign to end with a massive bang including Davros and the Master. Also its the last season for David Tennant, the new Dr is supposed to be Robert Carlisle.

Since my dad had the cement work done, we haven't had problems, but you're saying that in a few years, they might resurface!?

                                Is there even a problem?
                                How can we check?

Is there a way to reinforce it from the inside? We haven't even done work on the basement - it's more or less a place we put all our junk. No carpeting, so wall paneling, no significant lighting.
Its extreemly difficult to say without doing a full face to face survey. instead I'll give you the 3 principles of basement walls.

structural - able to withstand the expansion and contraction of the ground and also the weight of the building above. The walls are usually reinforced as it has to take both compression and tensile forced. Concret is great in compression but crap in tension which is while reinforcement is added to strengthen it in tension.

Waterproofing - a basement should have a waterproof membrane. this can be in many forms, but mainly is a bitumen/pvc dense sheet or membrane that basically stops any passage of water through. Known as tanking this is teh only thing that stops water getting through.

Insulation - yes the ground can insulate, but the problem is you can get condensation when their is a difference between temperatures in the concrete. in basements you insualte the walls to keep the heat in the basement and prevent intersticial condensation from being formed within the concrete walls.

intersticial condensation is the point of where airborn water vapour gets cool enough to condese from a gas to a liquid. It can happen anywhere and is bad when it can happen inside the structure of a concrete wall.

So what your saying is they put cement on the walls and covered it up? The question i would ask is were the walls originally tanked (or waterproofed) or is this cement meant to be a waterproof layer (a method here in the Uk I am not familiar with)
