I hope Aka is able to sort out his priorities. I hope he's not going to give up on higher education altogether because of this setback.

That's the thing now. What are my priorities? I thought I knew them when I applied. Now, I don't know left from right. And I'm gonna be cautious about considering higher education now, seeing how i failed already, should i go again since its a lot of money and my rents already payed for this one.

No, really, I'm genuinely surprised. I would've figured they'd keep you around as long as you pay tuition.

Yeah, go figure. Considering they try cramming more classes into a semester while turning them all into 8 week, once or twice a week courses that lasts roughly 4 hours on their scheduled day. Physics did nothing more than go over the HS level and barely anything into a college level according to my prof. Majority of these classes can't be effective in that little time frame.

Well, you have to consider what you'll be able to do without a degree. Will you be able to live? Will you be able to make enough money to be happy? Will you be able to do a job that makes you happy?

I mean, there is no rush. I took 13 years to go back to school. But I'm here now, and I'm doing well, and I'm happy. If I'd gone right after high school, I don't think I would have done as well. Of course, we'll never know. But I have a pretty good idea.

If the courses don't suit your learning method (whether that be fast or slow, often or infrequent, whatever), perhaps you should consider going to school elsewhere. There's probably a local school (like a community college) that would be cheap and effective, and give you more control over your schedule.

Yeah. -_- Hands on learning my arse. All there we get is lectures, barely any hands on with the materials covered. Just lectures, project, lectures, paper, lectures, disccussion boards.

I'm really gonna have to give it more time and thought before I get back into a post secondary school. Oh well. Time to move on.

Oh yeah, now I just recalled, they're phasing out night classes for all Game and Simulation programming courses, and I know a few students who can only have time due to work is to take night classes, talk about smart thinking.

I don't even know what I want to persue anymore, or the line of work to make a career of. I guess I'm just going to move on and find some job, look for a way to get by to make some sort of living I can deal with.

first thing to ask is what are you good at? what do you excell in, what do you enjoy?

Then look at what is availiable on those lines for education and work.

The other thing is that if what you ar finding difficult is something like maths, english etc. have you thought about doing a basic refresher course in them to improove. i hate maths (though its part of my job) and enlgish, well evryone knows my grammar isn't very good. i ahd to retake my GCSE English get a grade high enough to get into university which helped a bit because I am (surprsingly many will say) 300% better than I was at it. Going from grade F to C helped.

I don't knoiw what you are currently studying maybe you can fill us in, but ask yourself the questions above.

The difference between school and college/university is that in college and university the actually one to one help is very minimal, you are expected to show a certain maturity to your work in both lectures and work outside and it is expeced of you to have certain abilities.

I'd like to second the suggestion of a community college. That's where I'm going right now, and it really is a different environment from a four-year school. There are more helping hands, and a few more safety nets to keep you from finding yourself in the situation you're currently in. And you can transfer seamlessly to a four-year school (depending on your degree) if necessary, and they will generally help you with that as well.

Game and Simulation programming courses

Don't, just don't. If you want to learn how to write programs, take a proper CS degree not one that supposedly teaches you 'Game Programming.'

A good place to start would be getting a compiler and picking up a book and seeing if you can understand how to write simple programs that way. If the book (assuming it's a good book) can teach you how to string commands together then you're in a good position for CS, which will teach you why to do things, and how it really works.

A lot of CS is lectures and theory. The hands on is often done on your own time working on your own projects.
