And how could I forget about clients? Specially annoying are the ones who want to change everything at the last moment after all the materials and equipment have been already ordered and shipped.
Although watching clients trying to pull their little stunts and failing (which usually involves spending way more money than they originally planned) is funny most of the times.
Win.

I have not known a project where a client hasn't changed anything, they don't realise the actual impact of it, no matter how small the change!

Was funny today. I sent the piling test results to the Local authority Building control officer only to have it returned by the council filters and a email telling me that i have been reported for sending sexual content. after me blowing my top with their IT guy i narrowed it down to what had happened. The council have a new filter system on the blocks emails and sends warning if they contain certain words. One of tehm is penetration. And if ray is the the trade he'll knwo that when talkign about piling and testing you talk about penetration rates, reaming of holes and vibrators. All 3 are actual true construction technical terminology. I got a very appologetic email from the head of IT but was told i would have to post or fax information in the future as they cannot adjust the filters accordingly.

in addition to being the most thankless..

Be a sysadmin or a network admin then come back and say that. Managers (especially at places that require a manager to be 'hands off' as regards what their teams do) often have a very easy ride. If something goes well they get the praise, if it goes bad, it was the fault of the team, one member of the team or a lack of resources.

in other mac related news, I managed to get rid of my iMac. I gave it to a cousin. I had to gimp it pretty hard because A: he's an idiot, and B: they have no internet, but it works. At least it should, they were concerned it was on fire when they first started it up, hopefully that worked itself out.

Or let me clarify, most clueless people at any web application company. ie: design shop, developer, etc.

Actually, her entire company is devoted to project management consulting. They've even got PM in their damn name.

Still, considering she's only been there about a year and a half now, she's got to work on some neat things. Microsoft, Polo Ralph Lauren, some Army (DOD actually, I think) thing (got a cool security clearance badge thingy too), and been involved in writing a book on MS Project Server.

I would go into more detail, but you could all probably find out anything else you'd want to know about me from that. Or hell, looking at my google maps thing.

I was merely commenting on PMs at web design shops.
Since about 30 or so host with us, I have the distinct pleasure of talking to them every day.

The typical pecking order in terms of competence goes something like:

Real sys/network admins >>>>>>>> sys/network admins >> developers >>> PM/VPs.
