Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Eh, suppose someone just starts falling in love with you online when all the time you were just trying to be friends and play a game. Did you bring it upon yourself then?
I agree with you about how stupid it is for some people to develop feelings for someone over an online game based solely on their avatar, assuming the real person on the other side resembles that avatar. Yeah, that's pretty dumb. People shouldn't be so inclined to wishful thinking because there's a very high percent chance it's going to bite them in the ass. Yeah, I agree with you there.
However... (I know I just quoted you so don't take this like I'm putting words in your mouth. The latter of this post is merely my own opinion, not a retort.)
I don't think it's too terrible of an idea to form relationships over time with someone whom you actually find yourself spending quite a large amount of time hanging out with late into the night playing the game together, sharing interests and stories, bonding, and whatever else leads from there. After all, MMORPG's are all about the communities.

Haha! It's the damn truth though. People that play video games, especially ones that demand 3/4 of your life aren't very pretty! There's a few exceptions but for the most part... Ehh...
