Sat at home as the site is shut down due to the weather. We have 8.5inches of snow lying on the roads! and more on the grass and its snowing again, not even attempted to move the car as the snow is half way up the wheels!

(snow is 8.5 inches deep and that was the main road outside of my close which was closed until it was ploughed and gritted 20 minutes ago)

shame I can work from home so no snow day for me

LOL Feba, this is the UK, you just need a sprinkling and everyone panics and cities get gridlocked etc. This is extreem weather for us, were not used to this much snow, in fact this is the most snow to fall in my city at one time since 1963.

It was incredibly warm here (and rainy) until today. Now it's freezing, and the snow hasn't stopped. Good thing I bought a new coat today!

Oh that is SO pretty! I can't wait until we get some snow! Deer hunting season is around Thanksgiving and there has always been snow on the ground in the upper part of the state, and usually a thick covering. For quite a few years now deer hunters have had little to no snow and unseasonably warm weather. Hell we used to get snow around my birthday (12th) in the lower half where I am but that came and went 15 years or more now. Then we used to plan on snow around Thanksgiving but that hasn't happened in quite a few years now either. It's Dec and we still don't have much snow in the state. If I have to endure the bleak landscape that winter offers, at least give me a nice thick covering of beautiful snow to look at!

Living downtown, snow is only pretty when it first falls. Then it gets grey and gross really fast.

I don't miss the snow at all. And if it snowed here, I would stay inside and not come out until it was gone. These people can't even drive when it's sprinkling rain, I can't even image what snow would do to this city.

I'm an aunt! Sophia Adeline Hanes was born this afternoon to my proud baby brother and his wife.

Got the text message a few minutes ago and I started bawling. She's so beautiful and I'm so happy for them. And they kept her name from everyone until she was born, and I think it's sooooo pretty. Aks = proud auntie!

I'd like it to snow here -- but starting on a Friday night after I'm home from work, and melting away before we have to drive to work on Monday morning. My daughter has never seen snow anywhere except on the TV.

I shudder to think of how much of a nightmare Los Angeles traffic would be with a few inches of snow on the ground. Drivers are pathetic here when there's any sort of moisture on the roads -- and we don't have plows or anything like that.

ETA: Congratulations on your new Auntie-ness, Aksannyi! Baby girls so totally rock.

Congrats, Aks! I am an uncle six times over, so the novelty has worn a bit thin (though my nieces and nephews are perfectly lovely children who are very sweet to me when I see them). But it's still very cool for you!

Had a baby boy this morning. Mom and kid are both super-healthy! The family is now complete!
