So today was my first day at my new job. It's a fucking snoozefest, seriously, I did the same fucking thing for 8 hours. I really hope that tomorrow we start mixing things up a bit, because I'm pretty sure I can't stand to do that much of the same thing for that long. I thrive on variety and being able to change it up to break up the monotony. I was getting seriously antsy by lunchtime. And then I froze my ass off in the break room. Lol.

Oh well, it's not all bad. I work for Coca Cola, so sodas are very cheap. Unfortunately, I don't like Coke, but I'll learn to live with one Coke a day for 25 cents a can. And since we're not allowed to bring other products into the building, I'd have to chug my morning Dr. Pepper on the drive to work, which isn't terribly fun. Well, I wouldn't really have to chug it ... I just prefer to milk my sodas for a few hours.

Speaking of the drive to work ... an hour ... to go 14 miles ... kill me now. I have got to find an alternate route. While I was going insane not working, one of my top three hates on the planet is traffic. That is more soul-crushing to me than anything else I'd have to deal with at work. I will grow to resent that by the two month mark. Maybe somewhere down the road I can change my hours, both to avoid the rush hours, and because I prefer a 7AM start to an 8AM anyway. :/

One of my requirements for any job over the past 10+ years has been that it has to be in walking distance, or an incredibly short (no highway required) driving distance. I can't freaking stand traffic. Especially in the damn morning when I am not at my most cheerful.

Though working second shift as I do, with the time change and everything, means walking through the ghetto on my way back into town. That's a bit nerve wracking at times. I mean, I'm only 3 miles from my apartment, so it's a nice walk, but there could stand to be more streetlights, is all I'm saying.

Also, my job is incredibly tedious. If it weren't for the internet...

I hear that Murphie. The time change seemed really backwards as I was walking home last night. Walking through the park with the last of the daylight fading and leaves rustling everywhere is actually really creepy.

Didn't realize How to Train Your Dragon was out on DVD so I grabbed myself a copy while at Wal-Mart.

My review: glee! Chris Sanders does it again! Kind of funny how Toothless resembles Stitch in so many ways.

Ah, and thank god this daylight savings. I found myself wondering why I kept waking up earlier from my usual set time so the extra snooze was much appreciated. Only now I find myself waiting for class with so much energy and nothing to do...

Update:

Today it only took me 45 minutes to get home. I took a different route. Turns out, people here are idiots. Wait. I knew that. But seriously, they're dumb. They all get on the interstate to avoid being stopped at red lights ... and end up sitting there in jammed traffic maybe getting to 10 mph at any given time (if they're lucky) for like eight miles. I ran into only one really congested area, and it only took me a few minutes to get past it. This is my new route home.

Also, today I did get a chance to mix it up some. And thank God, because holy shit, I was about to go crazy doing what I did all day yesterday if I had to do that every day this week. I'm adjusting well, though.

As for working closer (yeah, I read the posts after I posted), I would if I could. In this economy, I took what I could get.
