I don't know how Japan does it, but here in the US, it's amazing how pricey cocktails can be. Our building had a happy hour hosted by a newly opened bar. The drinks were great. But when I asked how much the drinks would cost if I were actually at the club, the cheapest price I was quoted was $12. For a beverage. I just. Yeah, no.

My roommate's firm had an event at a local martini bar and it was the same thing. $14 martinis, and $21 for a shrimp cocktail with three shrimp in it. Ridiculous. Thankfully the firm was picking up the tab, but still.

The shows I've been to charge 500 for drinks. The one I went to last night only charged 300 for soft drinks, which was kinda nice. One drink minimum I include in the price of the ticket. But these aren't exactly huge glasses. But I don't really have any interest in getting drunk, so I mean, $5 for a bit of liquid? Not really my thing.

Wow, its been a while since I was in a bar. I'm sure clubs are a bit fancier and pricier though. I don't think any of the local stops near me charge $12 for a drink. lol Back in the day, when I ran a biker bar, we had $1.00 low shelf shots and 50 cent tappers. $5 and I could be drunk! lol

See this is why I drink beer. In addition to the fact that I really just prefer the taste of it to pretty much any other alcoholic beverage. I can't stand fruity drinks, and the really hard stuff that burns on the way down I just can't handle. Beer is good for me!

It's pretty cheap to get drunk here. You just have to go to an All-you-can-drink izakaya or something. Shibuya clubs are never going to be the most financially sound way to ingest large amounts of alcohol.

Well, I live in downtown Cincy. Most of the new bars are trying to attract a rather pretentious set. So charging $10+ for a cocktail gives them the illusion of exclusivity. Honestly, I usually just opt for beer when I'm out, because it's cheaper. I can't justify the cost of mixed drinks when I know how cheap it really is to make them.

The bar around the corner from me is nice in that I almost never have to actually pay for a drink in there. But it's bad in that I totally get drunk when I am not even intending to when I'm there. And the people who frequent it are ugly. Which: not good for me.

Pricey? This was near where we were staying just down the hill from a women's college (east of Gotanda station on the Yamanote line) 2007 prices, maybe inflation carried it higher.

Well its Day one of my new job. So far so good, running through the projects I will be involved in, people are nice and helpfull, offices are spacious and well equiped. No shortage of tea.

Early start was a bit hellish, was still dark when i left for the office at 6:30am this morning and will be dark when I'm driving back tonight. Next few days though i am in the site office of one of the projects which is a 30 minute walk from me so that should be easier.
