If by Put Her on the Bus to Poundtown you mean Started to Walk Down the Road of Dating, yes. From where I live you have to go down that road before you can get to the bus. Unless you have a jetpack.

No, the character actually had a name, I can't remember it now. But it was the person behind Jenova9.
Just run out in front of the bus as it drives past and hope it stops.

So I passed out on the couch at 9:33 last night for no apparent reason. Glasses still on and everything. Revived myself about five and a half hours later.
Think I'm going to get a chore done, and then proceed to get a few hours of real sleep. A more refreshing sort of catnap, that won't leave me feeling quite as sore as this . . .

Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Heh, started to think of my Japanese teacher the other day since I saw some houses decked out for Halloween already.
She loved Halloween, it was so funny. One time my sister and I come into class in the middle of the teacher talking to someone about it, and we hear:
Teacher "while bouncing off walls in excitment: "... Halloween is so wonderful, you go door to door and people give you candy!!!!!"
Student: "Sensei, no more candy for you!"
Teacher: "awww"
She was sweet, and had a notorious sweet tooth. She also liked to go skiing during the winter and almost always came back with broken bones unfortunately.
The 200 level classes were alot more fun and interesting because of the students mostly. The 100 level classes had alot of people who just didn't care or something, maybe they struggled with the language. I know alot of advisers told me that learning Japanese was quite difficult, but it came quite easily to me. Still though, I remember one time in.. it was either Japanese 102 or 103, I forget which. It was pretty early in the quarter and we were having our first test, and we have always been given plenty of notice on when the tests were going to be. Only 3 people, myself, my sister, and a gal by the name of Laura, passed the oral part of the test out of a class of about, I'd say 30ish people? The others were atrocious, simply atrocious and making mistakes they shouldn't have. The mistakes people were making, well to make an analogy it'd be almost like having someone in Calc 3 not knowing how to take a derivative. My teacher cut the test short and sent us all home to study and take it again, and I think she sat down and cried as we were leaving. She was one of those teacher's who IMO thought that if you didn't walk out of her class with an A, she had failed her job and she took it rather seriously. Though by all means she did not just hand out As.
As I said earlier, the 200 level classes were a whole other matter and alot of fun. My teacher would bring in some of the Japanese foreign exchange students as TAs, and frankly I think my teacher was trying to play matchmaker in some cases. But still we'd have these TAs come in, and every now and the TAs and some of the class would hang out for a bit afterwards and chitchat a bit. I remember one time the TAs made the comment that japanese has words that are pronounced and spelled the same, but did english have anything similar beyond aisle/isle and wood/would? We taught them "Dude" and even drew little picture stories to go with it
At BCC, there were too few people interested in the 200 level japanese classes, so 201/202/203 were all taught at the same time and place by my teacher. Typically we'd work hard, finish our quarter about a week early, and have a party on our scheduled final day. People would bring food and drinks and we'd all hobnob, and make fun of me since I was the only one there who didn't know how to use chopsticks. Though in my defense, I was also the only one there who was not Japanese, Chinese, grew up in Japan, lived in Japan for 2+ years, or married to a japanese woman for 40+ years.
I remember one time my teacher had asked me why did I want to learn japanese? It was hilarious. It went something like this:
Teacher: But Ebun-san, why do you want to learn Japanese? (My name is Evan and she always pronounced it Ebun)
Me: I heard it being spoken one day and thought it sounded really interesting, and I wanted to learn more.
Teacher: But why a foreign language in the first place?
Me: Because I thought it'd be interesting to learn another language.
Teacher: But why japanese? did your parents make you take it?
Me: No, I was just fascinated by the language and wanted to learn another language.
Teacher: But why a foreign language?
It went on like this for a little bit, until I had to think of an answer she'd understand, so I said...
Me: Because a language is a requirement for my degree"
Teacher/TAs: Aaaahhhhhhh, so desu.... "sage knowing nods all around"
It was so funny to me, they could not accept that I was interested in the language and that requirement or not, I'd have still learned Japanese.
And for the record, I heard a woman singing in Japanese and was utterly entranced by it, and her voice. That's where I first heard Japanese. If'n I remember correctly it was Maaya Sakamoto and the anime Escaflowne.
But as to why a foreign language? I suppose I'd have to say that I am very musically inclined, but only blessed with enough talent to know true talent when I hear it. However languages are almost identical to music for me, I'm almost as passionate about languages as I am about music, just wish I either had more time for both or that I'd make more time for them.
That's actually one of the reasons I wanted to play FFXI, to use it to practice my Japanese. Unfortunately it wasn't long after the NA release, maybe 6 months to a year, that the Japanese more or less stopped interacting with the NA population by and large on Unicorn. Sure, there are exceptions, but sadly not many.
You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.
I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.
(My name is Evan and she always pronounced it Ebun)
This is getting annoying for me. I don't mind the pronunciation of my name being mangled, that's fine.
It's when I give my last name as "Xxxson[ソン]", and whoever is taking it is like "Xxxã•ã‚“?w". And then I have to explain again. I think next time it happens I'll just pull out my train pass instead of trying to deal with it. For the record, "Xxx" doesn't sound anything remotely like a Western name; and Feba looks nothing like an Asian.

Hello Feba. Your infamous around these parts but I think your quite funny. *Shrug* I don't get too excited but anyways, I finally got Puppetmaster on 11. I heard 14 is too easy now so I won't even bother getting it.
