Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Some nike things? I don't remember the specific model; they have some kind of gel in the soles. Outside has some kind of netting over a bit of very breathable fabric (so it doesn't show straight through to your feet), and then also some kind of 'arm' things for support. It feels like it's adjusting to my feet with every step, I absolutely love them.
I have abnormally wide feet, so it's pretty hard to find stuff that fits me well. They're somewhere around an 8½EE (US), which means they're short enough that they're not in the "big" sizes where wides are common, and they're wide enough that I can't exactly squeeze into a regular size. So when I find a pair, I wear them into the ground. Before last month, I think I'd bought all of four pairs within the past five or six years, maybe longer. And some of that was my feet still growing. I think the nikes are actually a 9, but they're still so fucking comfortable; they don't feel floppy like other 9s.

I only stepped on natural sharp things; those are easy enough to wipe off on the grass (which was soaking wet with dew). The only other painful thing was these weird red metal plates where sidewalks meet the street in my neighborhood. They have these weird red bumps on them, so they're pretty uncomfortable to walk on. I can only imagine they were put there to fuck with bicyclists. I started just jumping over them instead of bothering with them.
