Well, earlier was weird.

Woke up about 10, neck hurt like a son of a bitch so I reinflated bed, laid back down. Wound up falling asleep again.

Now for anyone who doesn't know much about lucid dreaming, waking up and going back to sleep again is a well-known method for inducing dreams. I have no clue why this works; probably has something to do with going right into REM or something, Iunno. Anyway, most people don't use this method regularly since it's such a pain in the ass, but I think most of us trigger it accidentally from time to time.

First dream I had, apparently my grandma had died and we were at her funeral. Made slightly odder by the fact that she was walking along with us. At one point I remember going "oh, man, that smells", walking away, and then she moved over to walk next to me, and I was just thinking "ugh, ugh, ew. I mean I have to be nice since she's dead but holy crap dead bodies smell.". Towards the end, we had to convince her that she needed to be buried.

"Second" dream is a bit harder to explain. Basically, it was a bunch of false awakenings; I was half conscious at the time, and I kept sharing senses with my real body. For example, I do a reality check that involves pinching the nose and attempting to breathe through the nostrils. In reality, this of course won't do much more than pop your ears. But in dreams, you can breathe while doing this. Feels different to everyone, to me it normally feels like I'm breathing through really constricted nostrils. But in this case, the nose was closed, and I could feel the air I was actually breathing in. I realized this as I was doing it; lots of other things were doing that too. The music I left on in reality was playing whether I was in reality or a dream; that made things pretty confusing. This happens all the time, regardless of how deep I am in a dream. At one point I had an argument with a cartoon or a televangelist or an infomercial, or something like that. But I digress.

So I'm going around, trying to figure out if I'm awake or not; when I realize I'm not, I try to cling to the dream, lucid dreams can be very cool once you sustain them. I mostly fail the first few times, but fall back asleep pretty much instantly. After that I have a false awakening, realize I'm dreaming, false awakening again. As anyone who's had a string of false awakenings before can tell you, it can get annoying, or even scary. Annoying basically being "dammit I just want to wake up" (although I don't think it's too hard to force yourself awake from lucid dreams for most), scary being "oh god what if I never really wake up. WHAT IF I'M ALREADY DEAD.". I hit the second one for an instant, before thinking "wait, that's stupid." Ah, dream logic.

So long story short, most of these dreams consist entirely of waking up in the same room, trying some reality checks, and waking up. Eventually, some stuff does happen. I remember two main cool things:

1- At some point I get out my laptop (not surprising for a false awakening; checking email is a normal thing for me to do right after I get up). For some reason, it starts melting like that Dali painting with the clocks, and I'm frantically trying to keep it in form, stretching it like clay.

2- Somehow, I manage to make it out of the room and to another floor of the house (stairs fuck me up in lucid dreams; I don't know why). I'm not convinced it's a dream at this point (see the earlier comment about breathing through nose), and I open the back door and look out. I remember another reality check (flipping lights; for some reason, light switches never seem to work properly in dreams. They just dim lights, they don't do anything, they change colors, they remove all light from a room instead of just the electric light it's attached to, etc.). I start flipping the light next to the door; in reality, of course, for the back porch lights. In the dream, I tried flipping it a few times to see what, if anything, it did, and then it hits me.

I have a light switch for the fucking moon.

Left work last night walked past the laundrette, heard a crash and a scream. I look through the laundrette windows to see 2 legs dangling from the ceiling. I couldn't stop laughing. I eventually composed myself to ask the poor bloke if he was ok and could pull himself up. The answer of both was no. He had got a nail embedded into his groin. I rushed into the office to get a step ladder to put under his feet to relieve some of the pressure and spoke to fire control to get firefighters to free him. Having been in the job I was able to request the correct attendance of pumper, rescue crew and USAR crew due to the ceiling looking unstable and requirement of props. took them an hour to get him out having to cut away sections of the ceiling and floor joists and removing him complete with nail still in his groin so it can be removed in hospital.

My life is stranger.

That's quite the story you've got there, though. I had a friend once who came across something sort of similar once; some woman was in her driveway bleeding profusely from her arm, he stops and helps until paramedics get there, and then goes on about his day. Never found out what was wrong with her.

Of course, people start to get a little concerned when he shows up to school with blood all over his clothes.

When I was 9, my cousin was goofing around and got on the garage roof. Well when he decided to come down he was going to jump. There was this pile of bricks on the one side of the garage and thats the side he decided to come down. Well as he got close to the edge he lost his footing, went sliding the rest of the way, and fell off the roof unto the pile of bricks. When he woke up and we pulled him out of the bricks, he had a chunk of brick sticking out of his head. The other kids ran off and I took him in the house by my aunt. The second she saw him she fainted and hit her head on the counter, so she was out. God damn funniest situation if both injuries hadn't been so serious. lol

Actually, I was out shoe shopping a month or so ago; my old shoes were finally breaking down.

I wound up buying two new pairs. One of them cost like $100. I would be so ashamed if they weren't so fucking comfortable.

TGM, I did when I was a kid. Seems like the older I get the more sharp tetanus filled shit is lying around on the ground.

Ya my feet are more tender now that's for sure and I am more aware of where I am walking. But I still walk around town, when I take the dog for a walk, in bare feet....sometimes. I really dislike shoes.
