        So I'm sitting in the park and this guy with a sweet BMW backs into a parking spot. He's slowly backing up and there is a metal wire garbage can behind him. He doesn't stop...he just keeps backing up.... Then he finally stops after the can is UNDER HIS CAR! He realizes what an ass he looks like, could have something to do with my son laughing his ass off, and takes off. My son picks up the can and 2 minutes later, no shit, ANOTHER car comes by and does THE SAME DAMN THING! Ya that time even I was lmao.

          One time I was sitting in my car at work checking e-mails on my phone when a guy pulls up next to me in a truck, throws open the door and hits my car hard, I look out the window like... WTF?... he looks scared shitless and yells "sorry!" and runs away.

          I checked the side of my car and there was only a small dent. I left a note on his windshield saying "I know your licence #. Expect to hear from me soon." Left him a fake # and forgot to do anything about it.

          That's my random WTF car story.

            ANOTHER COMPUTER QUESTION!!!

            I'm interested in overclocking my processor (mostly because I've never done something like this before), and I've done a whole lot of research. I went into the BIOS to familiarize myself with what's where and such, but I realized that the ASUS motherboard and the i5 650 I'm running aren't keeping things simple for me.

            First of all, ASUS is using a lot of their own terminology. I'm forced to connect the dots when it comes to what's what.

            Second, the processor seems to be running mostly on 'Auto'. The FSB is set to Auto, but it never changes from 133.33MHz. The ratio is set to Auto, and can range from x9 while idle to x24 while stressed. When the processor's ratio is running at x24 it reaches its max frequency of 3.2GHz. I'd like to bump this up to 3.8GHz, because, while I'm sure I could push it a little further, I don't know exactly how far with what cooling I'm currently using. This means bumping the FSB up to 158.33MHz.

            Now, if I up the FSB I'll also have to lower the memory ratio to compensate. I'm FAIRLY certain the memory ratio is also set to Auto, but I'm not sure if that means it changes to meet the computer's needs, or it changes to meet the FSB's speed. I'm running DDR3-1600 RAM, so the maximum frequency they can be set at is 400Mhz, I think. This means, at 158.33MHz FSB, the memory ratio would have to be ~x2.5 for an overall memory frequency of 1583.3MHz.

            Now, I think that's all well and good. If the memory ratio can't be left at Auto then I can change it to 2.5, or 2:5, I think. Next, I have to consider the VTT, or Vcore voltage. Surprise, it's also set at Auto, so I'm sure it's going to change based on the computer's needs. I'm sure this is in place to keep power consumption down, but if I need to increase it to allow for more power to the CPU I'm not sure where to start. I'm not even sure if it's necessary if it can detect what needs the FSB is creating.


            Ok, I know I've asked a lot from you guys already but I'm really appreciating everybody's help. I'm kind of running myself in circles here and could use some input.

              There is really very little reason to overclock modern processors, I always recommend against it. I'm sure that there will be someone else here to tell you how to do it if you so choose.

              You will hardly, if at all, notice a difference between 3.2 and 3.8. The differences are now so small that it hardly makes sense. It also sounds like you may mess up the frequency scaling of the processor.

                              I got a guy on the phone once, his name was "Mr. Phuk" no joke, I stuttered for a bit until he reassured me that yes, his name was pronounced like that.
