Mezlo, only the older model PS3's with backwards compatibility can play FFXI. Maybe if you bought one used then you'd be able to set it up but you bought a new model, so you're shit outta luck. Just go thank Sony for that little bit of bullshit.

Random question: If I have an old internet wireless router that's rated at 2.5GB, and my internet service gets me 10, if i have a cat5 cable running from ps2 directly to the router, do I get the 10GB since it's directly connected (ie not wireless) or do I only get the 2.5?

Ghz would be the frequency that the device works at and would have nothing to do with data throughput.

Wireless is going to work on a standard, a, b, g or n. If it's old it will most likely be a b or an a/b device, most likely working in 802.11b with a max throughput of 11Mbit/s.

Until you know what you have, I'm going to say your wap is compatible with cheddar but not roast lamb.

it's G and is labeled 2.5 GHZ. So since im getting 10GHZ from time warner, on my laptop wireless connection I'd only be getting 2.5GHZ yes? If I upgrade from a G router to an N router I can get the full 10 GHZ yes?

A 802.11n router is useless without 802.11n endpoints. A Wireless-N router will work like a Wireless-G device if all the wireless cards understand is 802.11g.
