so I've started my new job...technically...they never got around to making a Windows ID or Outlook account for me, so I can't actually log into my computer under my name to start working, and the people I need to fix it aren't coming in until like 11.

Still sitting here getting paid to do nothing, lol. The request for my logins to be made has been put in, but that was over an hour ago and I still haven't gotten the call saying they're set to go. I can log in under the generic receptionist id I was using before, but the software I need to actually do my new job isn't activated under this name, so pretty much all I can do is use the internet. At least I think I got a raise starting yesterday, so I'm getting paid an extra $1-2/hr to do nothing for now.

5 days in and I'm honestly about ready to quit the new job. Aside from more or less being totally handcuffed from actually getting anything done due to them not having stuff set up for me ahead of time like they should have(it's been established that I'd be doing this job for over a month prior to me starting it), I'm getting yelled at for pretty much every single action I take, and most of the time it's for asinine reasons.

I got berated for contacting our IT guy directly without going through the higher-ups(he's one of their husbands, so he works on a volunteer basis)...except not once was I told to not contact him directly, and in my previous position I was made to contact him directly out of nowhere several times. I also got yelled at for using an acronym to describe our company in an email to a vendor...except it's not really an acronym, and I didn't make it up, it's their 4-letter ID for us in their internal system so they can look up our account, and the CEO can't seem to understand that it's strictly internal on their end, and that I have to use it if I want to be able to get anything done with them.

And I have yet to even be able to log into the software that I'm supposed to be using for this job.

I was supposed to have a meeting at 10am to get some info that I need in order to get started actually working, it's nearly 10:40, one of the two people who were supposed to be in the meeting apparently took the day off, the 2nd who was supposed to contact me at 10 to come upstairs has yet to call.

I think I've done like 15 minutes of real, solid work since Thanksgiving. Well, maybe an hour.

Although this "he's one of their husbands, so he works on a volunteer basis" means the company pretty much is run by retards and is not a place to stay at.

It's an 8-person company tops, so I understand them not really hiring a full-time IT guy. He's a professional at it, it's just that his paying customers have to come before us, which is understandable. I knew that was the case so I wasn't really bugging him randomly, I consolidated all the stuff I needed into one request and still got yelled at for 'peppering him with on-demand requests', lol.

Not having IT on staff isn't the problem, lots most small companies don't. The fact that apparently their business requires keeping their systems running yet they don't see the value of paying a contractor or a company that does support for small businesses shows the intelligence level of whomever is calling the shots.

Unrelated side note, having worked at a company that did IT support for small companies, there is no way in hell I would do that again. Small business owners are fucking assholes.

Yeah, that's pretty much the deal. At this point it's a 3-way intersection. I'm not really backing down on how I do things, I came here to get shit done, and I typically just put my head down and charge through work, I do tend to be a bit demanding, but I get a massively larger amount of work done than other people in similar positions most of the time, even despite the amount of time I spend on the internet.

I'm sure we're routinely going to butt heads, but so far I'm the only person who doesn't just do whatever the head guy wants whether it's correct or not, I do the intelligent thing and let them deal with it. So either they're going to eventually bow and let me do what I want so that I can be productive, they're going to continue to handcuff my ability to get shit done and I'll get bored and quit(I'm no longer paying rent, so I don't neccesarily need to be here at all), or they're going to dislike how I do things and can me.

At this point I have no idea which way it'll go.

Decided to buy my ticket to see IMAX Avatar online. I usually don't get tickets online, but I decided to give it a go this time since it might sell out by the time I get there. Figure I'll get to the theatre about 40 minutes early so I can get a good seat for once. Last time I had a decent seat in IMax was when I saw Beowulf for the second time, it was 2000x better sitting in the center of the screen than to the far left of it lol. I might even break down and get the XL size Popcorn Bucket since it is like 2 hrs and 40 mins long.
