Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Well the other day my cat got hit by a car.. Supposedly.. I think the neighbor did it cause they don't like him. But he had to go to the vet and had a concusion with all his teeth knocked out in one side..
Then today I had to take him back because he wouldn't drink or eat and come to find out he's got nuemonia(sp). I hope he pulls through.. I know he's just an animal, but he's been in my life since we saved him from the katrina animal rescue.. He survived that.. And getting shot twice, so hopefully he survives this. :-(

Hmmm, a friend sent me this video:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aFNgKX3sl8"]YouTube - Youmacon 2009 - Oct 29th to Nov 1st[/ame]
after I watched it I said OMG ITS IN MICHIGAN!!!! Me and him are both thinking about going on Saturday. Since Saturday is Halloween, I think I might toss on the Speed Racer costume just for kicks if I do decide to go.

Simple my answer is an impossible probability in life! That and I'm not too fond on the idea to do anything that requires investing into higher education after my failtastic year last year. And any career path I think of isn't appealing to actually put investments into succeeding.
Well thats the issue, we know what we need to do but usually that road is long and hard and we'd rather not go that way. The problem is you'll either end up stuck in a rut and later in life regret it or you'll eventually get your shit together and do what needs to be done and be better off for it. It's your choice and no one else can make it for you. You can think of all the reasons in the world not to do it but in the end, deep in your heart, you know you should.
My son went down this road. Got one degree and knew he needed more schooling to really succeed and get a foot in the door but he was too damn lazy to do it. He didn't want to go down that path so he did the bare minimum and got absolutely nowhere.....unless you consider a grocery store employee a banner job. Then he decided to finish what he started and put his nose to the grindstone and get back in school. (If I can do it at MY age, you younguns should be able to do it standing on your heads!!) Since then he's landed an awesome job that could well be the only job he'll ever need. He's working at a state college with the possibility of earning his Master's and becoming a professor. He currently is doing networking and such for them but recently made some presentations for some classes. It all just fell into place once he decided to grow up and do what needed to be done.
And then suddenly I forgive everything he's ever done.
Re: sticking with the long hard road and actually doing stuff: I wanted (not that i'm too old to try; just 40k in student debt already) to be a planetary scientist. Yip. I want to look at Venus and Europa and think about what it'd be like to set foot on it. NASA has these people. They make lots of money. To get into a field like this: bachelor's degree. Get accepted into Master's program. Go for PhD. Be best of the best. Maybe get another PhD. Perhaps a third to really have an edge over my competition. Be top of my class every step of the way. Then hope NASA's current guy has a heart attack and dies.
But you know, maybe laziness and a 2-year computer degree has its own benefits.
