No, actually I just got to work, 50 minutes late. There are 3 paths that I can take to get to work, all 3 are currently under construction and closed down to one lane. My morning commute has gone from 40 minutes to 90 minutes in the past week or two, the way back is a solid 80 now. I made the people above me aware of this, yet I'm still getting bitched at for being late. I'm not sure which is going to give me the aneurysm first, the traffic or my actual job. I'm just hoping that I awake from it with some kind of psychic powers.

That would involve waking up earlier, fuck that. Besides, they can't fire me at the moment, all they can do is suggest that I show up earlier. I spend half my day on FFXI forums, actually work maybe 2-3 hours a day, and still get more done than anyone else. When/if they up my pay to something more reasonable I'll look into showing up on time and putting in more effort.

I'm in kind of a 'lucky' position, at least in that respect. The only person other than me who knew what the hell they were doing in this department quit to go to law school. They made upper management aware that I was the only person other than them who knew what the hell they were doing, that I was underpaid(the standard for this job is about 20% more than I make, they low-balled me b/c I don't have my degree finished yet), and that they should promote me/give me a raise. I applied for the promotion, then got shafted out of it due to some potentially lawsuit-worthy scandal in HR, which cost me about 10k/year in pay and a big title to put on my resume.

Since then it's been kind of an uneasy truce, they know I hate them and that I'm not giving anywhere near my full effort, but they also know that if I walk the department implodes, and my department is a pretty integral part of the Finance department here, not the type of department you want to implode.

So I quit shaving and doing my hair, show up when I can get there(I do make an honest effort to be on time, but this construction is truly ridiculous), get my work done, then dick around for the rest of the day.

I wish I had an office; ; That's what I wanted most out of the MFing promotion! I really do need to look for a higher-paying job very soon, or at least one that's closer to home. It's nice being able to do what I want, but I'm currently stuck in the superfun cycle of not being able to get a good job because I'm only halfway through my degree, and not being able to get back into school because I can't get a well enough paying job.

In unrelated news, someone made some kind of weird sweet hazlenut coffee instead of our normal black highly caffeinated fare. I'm not very pleased at this.
