    I remember we were talking about Red Velvet Cake a while back, and how TGM makes it from scratch. For some reason I thought it contained cherry flavoring, but I know now it doesn't. I tried to make it from scratch earlier today, and it came out really funny. First of all, it didn't really rise much in the oven. In one pan, the back of the cake rose, and in another, about three-fourths rose. I stuck it in the fridge and they both went flat. Better luck next time, I guess.

    I can make a mean banana cake.

              You know what I never understood.. My mom would tell me not to be loud or stomp around or her cake would fall. What the hell causes that??

                        It happens if you slam the door to the oven or a door near the oven. Or drop something heavy near the oven or bump the oven. Its also not advised to move the cake while baking. If the center is still doughy and you move the pan, the center might not puff up. When you make a cake you beat the batter and air gets into the cake. Now don't think that beating the batter for a long time will make a fluffier cake because it probably won't. It takes years of experience to know how long you can beat the batter to make it fluffier because too long makes the cake more dense. But the air in the cake escapes if there is a loud percussion near the cake and this is very noticeable with an angel food cake or any mousse.
