Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Sorry, but I wouldn't have had a daughter in the first place if I wasn't in the position to support her. You just made others pay for your choices in life. And I don't need to have kids to know that.
Now, I'm not saying I don't understand why you did what you did. But my point was that people should never use their family as an excuse for their actions. If they do it they should just say "I did it because it was easier for me to do it that way" instead of pretending to be righteous people who were forced by destiny to commit a sin.
From what I've seen in my time on this planet 99%* of the "bad" stuff that happens in people's lives is a direct consecuence of their own choices. From diseases to bad economical situations etc. If you live your life in a way that ends up putting you in those desperate situations then I don't think there's much left to do by then.
So you solve it in the best of your possibilites. That doesn't mean it's the only way, it just means that's the way you found to solve the situation.
*With the other 1% being natural disasters or uncontrollable things like war or pandemics.
That's self-defense and has nothing to do with what I was talking about. In fact one of the things I'd like my kids to learn is to defend themselves and others whenever possible. And that if it's a life or death situation and killing is the only option to defend yourself or your family then there's not much question about it. But of course it would depend on how you ended in that situation in the first place.
And about the drugs thing I definitely hope I'd have the trust of my kids so they told me about things like that. Even though situations like that only happen when someone is frequenting people/places they shouldn't have. Cartels just don't go picking people at random to deal for them.
Anyway, using your example what I was talking about would probably be more on the lines of me killing a guy to steal his briefcase full of cash and then saying I did it "to support my children" or because "life has dealt me really bad hands". That's the kind of thing I just don't have any sympathy for.
But again, I don't think I should keep posting about this.
