Nah. If you think I haven't considered making "dirty money" to feed my kids before then you don't know me very well.

If I thought I could get away with a lot of the things that are illegal but would pay me much better than I am getting now, I'd so do it.

I was hoping you'd lead me into a whole cakes eating cakes cannibalism thing, but I'm glad you don't get it either. In this scenario, the cake represents something coveted, while the eating of the cake implies some sort of enjoyable disposability, which isn't a word. Yeah, you've started to make that very apparent. I'm sure everybody has a different sense of morals, but there is no reason anyone could give me would change my position on being unfaithful to a spouse. If a person feels that they can't be faithful then they should stay single. Don't screw up somebody else's life because you want the proverbial cake.

Definitely.. I had that same view till I cheated on one of my girlfriends. Yes bf gf is different than marriage, but cheating is cheating. And sometimes in your life you're put in a situation you would like to say you'll do the right thing but you wont really know till it happens. We as humans make mistakes and we're constantly tempted through life and if you go through your life without being unfaithful, my hat's off to you. There's just too many pretty loose girls in this world lol.

Neesan I don't think you should mention your kids when you talk about having thoughts about making dirty money.

It sounds like you want to put the blame on them for whatever desperate move you could potentially do in your life to get money. And I doubt you'd want them to think they did that to your life.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but I just don't like it when parents use their kids as an excuse. The way I see it it is because you already have kids that you have the obligation to give them the example of the person you'd want them to be in the future. And accept the consecuences of the choices you made in life that put you in the situation you are right now.

Desperate? She didn't mention anything else but her kids and just wanting them to have a better life. If she was desperate , she could sell her self and make enough money to send her kids you me and 4 other people to college.Also, not everyone has got to choose their path in life and sometimes an opportunity to take a new path may conflict with their morals. If she had the chance to get such a large sum of money, that could very well be the change in her life she needs. IF you stole 1 million dollars and got away with it, what would you do with it? For my part I'd rather die as a lion than live as a dog. I put in extra time at work even though I know nobody notices or cares, even though I get nothing for it and I don't respect the work. I always put some money in the charity jar at the checkout counter even though I'm struggling for money myself. I pick up the trash that other people have abandoned when I'm with my kids at the park. I'll take care of my neighbor's tall grass if I'm already out there with the trimmer anyway. I always seed my torrents to at least a 2:1 ratio lol. And with rare exception such as this one I try not to boast and make myself look virtuous. I'm not doing it for that. I just want to be a better person. To me that means giving back more than I take, as much as I can.

I wouldn't take the million dollars if it was to save my own life. But for my child's life .. my responsibility is too great to allow me to put my own pride, my dreams, my morals or my life before their well-being. If I felt I had no other option I would absolutely steal every cent necessary.

One of my coworkers is getting divorced from her husband atm. I'm not sure how long they've been married, but Im assuming at least 12ish years since their oldest kid is 13. Long story short, the husband had a girlfriend on the side for 2 years, and the wife found out about it. I hear her on the phone alot of times arguing with him, so the whole thing is just a sad situation. I think about it like this, if don't feel that you can resist temptation, you might as well stay single.

Ya thats a bad situation, especially when there are kids in the marriage. My husband had 3 affairs while we were married....well that I know of. It's very hard to recover from them, if you even can.

I really wouldn't. I've been in positions with lots of responsability and I have not taken a single cent even though there were a hundred ways to get away with it.

Some people just don't think that way. Although I understand why someone living in a society like the one in the US (or here in MX) would find it close to impossible to even think about the posibility of someone simply ignoring the million dollars lying there.

But for my child's life .. my responsibility is too great to allow me to put my own pride, my dreams, my morals or my life before their well-being. If I felt I had no other option I would absolutely steal every cent necessary.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with this. I too would be willing to toss aside my dreams and my pride for my kids. I'd beg, or pick out trash if I had to, or take on whatever loan I needed to to give my kids food.

But I would never steal, nor harm other people to provide for my kids.

In short I would not break under any circunstances.

To me the principles and morals I can teach my kids with my example are far more valuable than whatever few pieces of bread I could steal to feed them for a day. The amount you steal (be it a few dollars or a few millions) makes no difference, in the end it's all about how you want your kids to live their lives and how much you are willing to prove to them that it is possible to live an honest life even in the "worst" conditions.

And I say "worst" because everyone has a different concept of what "worst" is. Heck, I've seen more than enough really poor people (this is a 3rd world country) living in very bad conditions while managing to live an honest life to try to fool myself thinking that acting spoiled and taking the easy path is really the right choice instead of accepting a lower life style than whatever I thought was the lowest I could go.

Again, I don't like it when people make their children/family their excuse for whatever dishonest thing they do in their lives. To me that's just a way to delude themselves and a way to avoid taking responsability for their actions, because regardless whether they get caught or not they can still feel good about themselves because they "did it all for their family".
