Well the frame and the body are 12 years old. Actually saying "everything" was replaced is a bit of an exaggeration, of course I've had brakes done (a few times, brakes are squishy like Tarus), the fuel system rebuilt, the tranny was rebuilt, but lots of the parts on it are in working conditions from 97 when it was made.

So I like how FFXIV is FFXI with a V on the end, and it's the next FF MMO. I point this out to Murphie, and because he's an asshole he tells me that someone on BG or GAF or some other forum mused that it was FFXI's 'fifth expansion'. Which got me thinking.

At first, I thought that XI +V would be the first time this happens in the series of roman numerals; other than just tacking Is onto the end.

Then I realized, no, that would have been IX. FFI +X. Given the theme and tone of FF9, that seems perfectly reasonable. Heck, even calling it "Final Fantasy One Ecks" doesn't seem that far off. It's like the prototypical FF game.

Then I thought about FFX-2. Ten Dash Two. 10 - 2 = 8; FFX2 (officially styled FINAL FANTASY X-2) shares more than a few similarities with 8 (fairly light plot, the battle system is more experimental, the upgrade system for dresspheres is more than a little similar to the upgrade system for GFs)

FFXIV, as FFXI +V is as mentioned easily standing for FFXI's "Fifth Expansion"; since the world definitely seems to be linked to Vana'diel somehow. This could also explain why SE is doing miniexpansions, and why we haven't heard anything about WtG's follow-up.


Of course, given that nobody cares about FFX, it'll almost certainly fall apart at FFXV, but it's still interesting how these three games line up.

A few things on my mind.

- Losing the will to play XI.

Considering how many games I have yet to play and the time I'm going to spend playing XIV next year maybe I should just go finish all those other games instead.

- XI is looking sort of bad right now.

I've seen games with way better graphics before, but seeing XIV's trailer was the first time I actually thought "Man, XI looks old".

Edit > This is also considering that tech demo from way back in 2005.

- Inability to get group stuff done.

Even the Limbus runs have stopped lately (haven't had a decent Limbus run ever since I got Homam feet). Which along with other things are making it look like there's no way I'll get all the gear I want before the end of the year.

- Mainly interested in storyline missions/quests and I'm almost done with it.

Just need Shadows of the departed/Apoc. Nigh and to finish WotG when SE adds the rest of the story, along with WotG nation quests which should be easy enough to get done within the month.




I'll wait till the end of the month, but it's looking like I'm going to be taking some time off XI again soon. <_<;

I'm getting to that point too. I took about 3 days away from FFXI to play Sims 3 (I would've did better to keep Sims 2 on there instead and wait for User Created stuffs.) and then yesterday I bought inFAMOUS, next week I'm buying Prototype and I think the week after that Battlefield 1943 comes out so I'll be snagging that too. They've shown wayyyy too many good trailers at E3 for games coming out this year and a few coming out next year that I want...I just don't have the time to play them. Also, Anime how I hate thee, why must thou take mine life with your epic plots? That is why I usually take 1-3 month breaks from FFXI.

To be fair, I often am.

I'm kind of feeling my desire to play FFXI waning as well. Not in light of XIV necessarily, though I'm sure that's a factor, but more because I hate the jobs I'm leveling now, but I need them for subs, and I am kind of tired of soloing in a group based game. I think it might be nice to take a break and play a single player RPG for a while. There are a ton that I've missed/skipped over the past few years.

Still, I just paid for this month, so I may as well get my playtime in for June. Maybe by the end of the month I'll feel better/differently.

Okay, I scrapped the emo sig. I like it still but I can't add enough to it to consider it "finished" so it probably never will be.

Instead, I went with humor, which is something I seem to excel at for sigs I've made for my linkshell. People like to tease me, saying I don't cure people (obviously bullshit!) so I made this one:


One day ... they will find out. MWAHAHAHA!

I'm thinking of posting some of my other sigs here if you'd all like to see them, I've gone mostly with humor and inside jokes recently. But I don't think I will use this one here, because of the language. It works out fine on BG though, so you can always check it out there if you want. XD

looks good, although the font is annoying, as is the color on FUCK OFF!

Only image problem is that the characters seem to stand out a bit. Maybe mess around with the lighting, or use a bit of blur around their outlines. Bit of vaseline on the lens is all it takes to make a hovercraft.

Only things I could think of that could make this better would be if you invert the sky and add a light red glow around aks and a sharp gothic font. Then chop off that head and photoshop the laugh animation head on the body. That would make it just a little bit more evile.

actually, Ask Yanni, just remove the "fuck off" altogether. makes it seem too angry.

"oh, you wanted cures?" (lowercase is superior here) is better, it implies a cute sense of malevolent negligence, whereas as it is just comes off as "no, go die."
