Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread
Aiee, last week and half or so has been really hectic.
I mentioned before that I had applied for an ATC trainee type job with the FAA. Having not heard back from them for a bit I started to wonder just what to do, because I am quite interested in being an ATC (ATC = air traffic controller)
I decided that while I waited for the FAA to get back to me that I wanted to start learning this on my own, just in case the FAA turned me down for this trainee position I can still get in another way. The FAA requires that you have to go to a FAA certified school to get this training, and it just so happens that a local community college is one of these certified schools. So I check it out, and it turns out that very last minute I can still register for the upcoming quarter, got in, got the classes I want, got a 100% on the first test and I think I just aced the second test, so good start to the quarter.
Unfortunately there is a total lack of organization with the administration offices and just about everywhere else. So the fast 3 quarters of classes that I thought I needed just turned into a two year degree. Gonna be talking with an actual advisor this Wednesday to see just what I need, how to go about it (since this advisor is one of the teachers who sets up the class schedules we can plan it very well) and see if I can transfer some of my credits over (math, english, chem) and if I may be able to challenge some of the basic classes, like the how to operate a computer class. I've never had such a class, but I'm sure I could manage it.
And the reason I'm excited to talk with an advisor is because the guy knows what he's doing. Also I come from the Economics department of the UW. We had no advisors and it was very hit or miss with the teachers when it came to advising, and even then the advise differed greatly, especially on the subject of interning. FYI Econ students, you want to get that internship or else you are, well, not exactly screwed but it would have helped me tremendously if I had gotten one. 1 out of 12 econ teachers recommended it, 11 said not to, so I thought I didn't need one, go figure.
So that's what I've been up to. FFXI is on hold a bit. I get on for a little crafting/farming/HELM like once a week so that I have money to buy things with, now and when I start to really play again, but it's gonna stay that way because I really want to get As and make the best case for myself that I can when I do reach the FAA academy.
You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.
I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.
