We used to live in a duplex when our kids were little. The upstairs neighbor guy was so annoying but I was good friends with his g/f. One day we asked him if he could help us take a piece of furniture over to our daughters house with his Blazer. So I was helping him clean out the back of it so we could put the item in there and he found a bag from Taco Bell with a burrito in it. I said "Give it to me and I'll throw it away Roger." So he looks at me, grins really big, and eats it. That bag was dirty as hell and under a bunch of crap so it wasn't just bought that day, the day before, or even the day before that! He said it was about 2 weeks old. I went in the house and threw up.

I know a girl who will leave pizza out overnight on the counter and eat it the next day like nothing happened. She swears down it doesn't cause any harm to her. Honestly I wouldn't touch that with a stick.

I used to do that all the time before I started living in homes with seemingly incurable roach infestations. -.- Probably a bad idea but I'm still alive and have no parasites afaik.

So it was my daughters 28th birthday the other day. I baked her favorite cake, Red Velvet Cake. (This cake is a total pain in the arse.)



Talk about an unhealthy cake!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! First off that red cake look doesn't come naturally! LOL There's so much red in that cake that you can imagine what that looks like when it comes out of you! LOL The frosting alone has 3/4 of a pound of butter in it! (and the frosting is the best part!!) So I haven't had a piece of that cake since I've had most of my stomach removed but I thought I'd give it a try. HOOOOOO DOGGIE was I one sick granny! LOL Threw up, got diarrhea, and passed OUT! I just can't eat that stuff anymore! lol

I'm planning on baking a red velvet cake for a friend next week. I'm considering either covering it in sprinkles, or cherry halves.

People spend £60-100 on alcahol to do that. Is it a sponge cake with red food colouring or has it got lots of berrys and stuff in?

This cake is from scratch! REAL Red Velvet cake is not cherry flavored either. Nor is the frosting cream cheese. The cake is chocolate cake (from scratch) with a ton of food coloring and the frosting is slowly made with butter, flour, vanilla, etc on the stovetop. I usually have to make 2 batches of the s**t because the first one usually has lumps in it. Its a royal pain in the arse.

I was going to say go with the cherries on top Dak because I thought it was a real Red Velvet cake but with a box one thats already cherry flavored, cherries on top might be too much.


The story of this cake is that waaaaaaaaaay back in the day it was something that they made at the Waldorf in New York. The recipe was "stolen" and distributed to some people. My mother swears this is THE Waldorf Red Velvet Cake recipe. LOL I don't know if its true but its a VERY rich cake with creamy frosting (for people that don't like a really sugary frosting this is the bomb!).

Yeah, red velvet cake from a box can't even begin to compare to red velvet cake from scratch, they really are two totally different beasts.
Just cooking one from scratch is akin to advanced quantum physics.
