Jarre, WTF. The difference in "chips" is part of every stand-up routine or sitcom or quirky editorial or advertisement or casual conversation that compares American English and English English ever. I don't think you're allowed to perform cross-Atlantic communication without knowing about that.

No Jarre, our potato chips come in a bag ready to eat...........thank god. Though my husband, back in his drinking days, did cut himself on a mylar chip bag trying to open it when he was drunk. LOL

Does anybody else hate using the microwave? I only bring it up because I was instructed to stop making baked potatoes in the oven, and make them in the microwave instead to save power. I'm really wierded out by the fact that it's not actually cooking the food, but rather increasing its temperature though voodoo magic and witch doctoring.

Also whenever I put chinese food in there it comes out all funky.

Screw saving energy, microwaved baked potatoes come out tasting like shit. Its about the 'now', don't worry about 'down the line'.
Microwaves are for reheating leftovers and thats it.

I agree. It is totally freaky! One minute your food is raw, then a few minutes later you have hot food, thats soggy on the inside and kinda chewy and dry on the outside.

We don't even have a microwave anymore.... they are too wierd... and always destroy food.

There are many methods of popping popping corn without the need of microwaves + microwave popcorn bag. My grandmother has one of those air popping things, and she just puts a few kernels in, add a bit of butter at the end and presto, better snack than most microwave brands, without the risk of popcorn lung.

Unfortunately, it's a replacement for her last one that got lost, and this one was made in China, so it just ends up spewing popcorn all over the place! Good thing my grandmother's place is quite clean!

man your microwaves must suck. Mine makes pretty good potatos. Not nice and fluffy like cooking them on the grill or such, but not bad. Most of the fluffiness problem can be taken care of with a bit of rage. Just get something sharp and stab the potato until you forget about your ex, and it's good for the eatin's.

speaking of cooking on a grill, best way to cook corn is season it, wrap it in foil and throw it in the coals
slightly blackened, best i've ever had

Microwaves are one of the best inventions of the 20th century. Instead of preheating an oven and waiting 20 minutes for food, I can pop it into an enclosed case of radiation and have it cooked in 3 minutes.
