I've actually been considering moving to Alaska. Only place my mom and I can agree on too, but with me going off to college, it's not as important.

I think the weeks of consecutive daytime in the summer and nighttime in the winter would get on my nerves. The former faster than the latter, naturally.

That's only above a certain latitude, which is really far north. It's not a problem in, say, Anchorage I don't believe. Although the daytime length is probably stretched and shortened moreso than usual.

Actually, I heard once that up there they have these really thick blinds, so during the summer, you can basically make it nighttime whenever you want.

Aside, though, I also heard stuff like that (perpetual day and night I mean) screws with your psychology. Eh, but I'm screwed up crazy, anyway, so I have nothing to lose.

We're closing on our house tomorrow morning. We took a walk-through tonight, to make sure everything was in the condition we expected and everything.

And promptly discovered the gas dryer we had set to be delivered tomorrow afternoon wouldn't do us much good. The house has gas heat and a gas stove, so why the hell wouldn't it have gas dryer hook-ups? (Or, a better question, why the hell didn't we actually check first?) Actually, I think it does have hook-ups, but the previous owners, in a fit of making some damn sense, covered them up with shelves and cabinets when they moved the laundry machines out of the kitchen. Because nobody wants dryer lint in their soup.

Thankfully, Lowe's was totally on the ball and cool about canceling the order and the licensed gas-dryer-installer-guy and replacing it with an electric dryer, still to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. And it ends up cheaper (though likely to cost us more in the long run).

The owners also appear to have left us a lawnmower and some liquor (open containers).

I read something that said to keep your toothbrush at least 6 feet away from your toilet, because anything closer runs the risk of catching stray particulates that fly up in the air due to flushing.

This goes hand-in-hand with something else I read that revealed that toothpastes have native anti-bacterial properties so that germs have less of a chance of growing on your toothbrush overnight.

Speaking of germs, did you know that our mouths contain more germs on them than the average sewer grate? (NYC not included)
