Okay, you guys know I like typing in a different text colour, right? I just want to ask how these are for you guys.

"Choice 2"

To me, they just seem like the darkest colour to Black, seeing as its is what you all seem to be used to. I guess this is my final chance to try this out, and if no one likes them.... I guess might consider sticking with Black, though to be honest, I just DONT understand why you should all have a problem with whatever colour I use! There must be something really wrong with your eyes the way I see it! It's just silly I think! I've never had a problem with it personally!*sigh!*

Oh, and also... I haven't really had many reasons to post here lately, so its not very regular for me.
So consider that something of help in not seeing many of my coloured posts.

Personally Black is fine by me, but if I had to choose between your choices I'd day Choice 2. But I think it varies as people can change the forum settings to match thier prefrences. So sometimes the contrast between different colors will just look different. No matter to me though. If I really want to read it, I copy/paste and change the color to what I want.

I like the default text. Neither of those two colors is going to show up well when using the dark template, and a lot of people use that.

You also change the font for some unknown reason. If you want originality, get a blog. If you want to post on the forum, use the text everyone is used to. If you mix it up, it's very jarring, and makes your posts more difficult to read.

I use the dark template and can't read anything at all in the first post.

With some posters I can't say that's entirely a bad thing.

Hate to be the only stickler, but why is this in the general FF discussion? FFXI hasn't been mentioned once (up until now).

I don't really care. At least when I saw the red, it was obvious who was posting. Not that it makes a difference, after you've been here long enough you can tell who is posting by what they say.

Pretty much the same for me: I had minor trouble seeing it was Snowball by the lack of eye-pain, but the font-size was still just as dead a giveaway.

And, personally, given the choice between the two colors listed, I'd choose Navy. But, still, how hard is it to not mess with those settings above that little message box you type in in the first place?

Actually it seems that both of those colors show up pretty well in the dark setup. I prefer the dark red.

Err... Taskmage, I can barely see "Choice 1" when the LCD screen on my laptop is at the optimal angle. It's basically invisible off best viewing angle. "Choice 2" is better, but red on dark gray is annoying as heck to look at.

Default text, please.

I just use the default Light 5.

When people read red letters, some natural reactions happen:

(1) A reader's retinas widen to allow light in so they can actually see what was written, since this shouldn't be neccessary while reading, it hurts.

(2) Some people feel like they're being yelled at when they read red letters.

(3) Or they feel somone is strangely correcting them. Remember how teachers would use a red pen to show you where you were wrong?

Yeah, that.

Oh and teachers always wanted you to write in black or blue because, well, see #1. They'd stare at white sheets of paper for hours grading then and then you'd pull that retina pain on them by writing in pink because its "cute."

If you want to add personality to what you say, pick a font, italicize, bold or underline. These all serve to emphasize and give context to your posts without extreme flavoring that's unpleasent to read.

I'll grant you that you're well-spoken when you type. When they are not colored in flaming red, your thoughts are well organized and easy to read.

Given some use the black background as default, your choice of red and blue will be lost within it. The orange default text there is just your best option since orange is shades brighter than brown, but not too bright, its easy on the eyes. The Navy Blue is fine for the white background, though.

I dunno. Choice 1 seems hard to make out on dark to me. Choice 2 seems to work on both dark and light templates though.

I suppose it depends a lot on your monitor type and settings. I can see both well enough. Aeni's color works well too, but I don't think it's probably Snowball's style.
