Just unveiled at the Apple's latest press conference is a new line of iMacs. And while we still won't be able to upgrade anything except for the RAM, each of the three new models feature graphics cards from ATI's Radeon R600 series that support Microsoft's DirectX 10, which is sure to bring a smile to the handful of Mac users who see dual-booting Windows Vista a viable gaming solution.
The low-end model ($1199) features a 20-inch display, 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Radeon HD 2400 XT. The high-end model ($1799) features a 24-inch display, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Dueo processor and Radeon HD 2600 Pro. (Comparison) If hardcore gaming is your primary concern, then the iMac is still not a long-term, cost-effective option. However, for those who love the design and using Mac OS X for non-gaming means, this looks to be a pretty good setup.
A new keyboard was also revealed today, showing a design more akin to what has been seen with the Macbook laptops. Gamer-friendly? We're just not sure at this point. Though the picture shown after the break doesn't have it, we're pretty sure the above image shows a numeric keypad still on the right side of the keyboard. The new iMacs are available starting today.
The rumored pictures seemed plausible enough, and now Apple has confirmed the hopes / fears of typists the world over: there's a new desktop keyboard (er, two actually) in town. The new keyboards (one larger wired edition, one smaller Bluetooth flavor) make an obvious play to capture that good will the MacBook has garnered for its interesting spacing and flat keys, but it remains to be seen if such a laptop-ish keyboard can keep up with the more tactile big boys on the desktop frontier. But hey, with that much sexy, we're willing to find out. Click on for a few more glimpses!
I am just hoping they do a macbook pro, and macbook update. At least change the darn graphics card in the macbook to something other then some pile of intel nonsense. Oh well, I will be purchasing a new macbookpro soon anyway. I have been waiting for all the kinks of the whole core(2)duo to be worked out. And finally I can jump in on my new mac again. And well slide that old G4 titanium away to the museum. Hahaha had a G4 aluminum before that one but sold it. College and being broke, made me make that stupid decision. Oh well.

I understand, I am just doing a little wishful hoping How is your Macbook pro running? I understand from your sig and a few posts you are quite the OS capable person.

I must have not read that threat properly when you posted it the first time. Thank you skimmed over some of it on the date of posting. That will teach me thank you for the link. And well maybe I will look into the macbook. Just does not have the graphics power to run Maya3d and 3DStuido for modeling and low end renders. ~
