I know some people there who are in their 20s and 30s, but it's mostly teens. Joining a guild actually is a pretty good suggestion for avoiding the 12 year olds. That is, if you join the right guilds.

No, not really, not if you have an IQ above room temperature.

The correct reason to not download second life is because it's a crappy game. It's alright as a chatroom, but if you wanted a chatroom, you'd save the CPU cycles and use IRC.
