I think the best safety tip is to just not post. That's what I try to do typically. At most you do a reply here or there, and maybe an original post every now and then, but after you do run and don't look back for awhile. The more you post, the more chances someone is going to either flame you or make an offensive statement at your expense. People don't play nice online and for the most part there's no reason to care if they do. Come for the functionality, linger a little for friendly convo and then leave.
