He posts in the LOTR MMO thread. Yes he apparently quit FFXI and gave up his character. Yes it seems he doesn't want to post anywhere other then the LOTR thread.

Murphie seems really engrossed in LOTRO. I doubt he'll stay gone though, he just seemed really burnt out on RDM. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back and decided to just take it easy and level other jobs.

Seriously, the game is great. And my guild is really cool. So I doubt I'll be back to FFXI anytime soon, if at all. Nice of you guys to notice I was "missing" though. :3
