Re: Alec Baldwin's Threatening Message to Daughter

Disipline is one thing, yelling at your kid like Alec Baldwin did is far beyond anything my parents did. I don't care what the kid does, you don't go that far verbally. I got spankings, I got lectured, I got grounded. And my parents a really nasty divorce like this kid did.

I don't think the court will allow him visitation rights, nor should they if he's going to be that verbally abusive to his kids. The man was a kook well before this tape got out there, I encourage him to move on to Canada.

Wow, you guys really need to get a grip on life. I know abuse, I lived with it most of my life. If you read about it, I had it done to me. My father went to jail for child abuse in 1977. This is NOT abuse. It is a parent fed up with a bratty kid who doesn't have the respect to do what she was told to do.

Once again, the public sticking it's nose in where it doesn't belong. Get mad at the people who really abuse their kids, you know, beating the shit out of them, molesting them, that kind of shit.

        So true.
I've heard, said, and have been scolded(years ago) a lot worse than that.
It's just that he's a "celebrity" and it's a voicemail, which was his only mistake in my eyes.
It's better and seems only useful to get your point across(in the way he did) when the person is on the phone.

Abuse is abuse is abuse. Physical, sexual and verbal - all can result in severe emotional and psychological damage. Can the conservate republian shit and listen to what the man said - would you go to that extreme when chatising what your child does?

          YOU get a grip.

I think we're all missing the real problem.
She's 11 and has a voicemail account (implying a cell phone too). If your 11 year old child has a cell phone then you're asking for your kid to turn into a brat.

As for what he said. I don't think you ever verbally attack your child. Atleast not like that anyway. You smack their ass, no question, atleast until they get older and you can nolonger inflict pain so that they get the point, but you don't help for them to develop deep psychological problems.
Now, if you want the best of both worlds, you make them go outside and cut their own switch. Thats the best psychological abuse there is.

Yes, for anyone to say it's right to "abuse" their child means they are twisted and demented.
No one in their right mind would like to give their child the pain, sorrow, confusion and suffering that comes along with "abuse". Whether it's physical, emotional, sexual, mental or psycological(sp).
If anyone thinks that it's right to abuse their own or any child, they need to seek help.

The question here is, if what alec baldwin said, was abuse.

In my humble opinion, it is not.

If you really care about the whole situation, you have to realize that Alec was talking to his daughter AND his ex-wife.
There is prolly an INFINITE number of details in the divorce/"abuse"/voicemail/life of the three that the public doesn't know about.
So why does anyone judge him?
Or better yet, why is it on this forum or in the news??????
There are MUCH more important things in the world or even in popular culture.

Verbal abuse is way diffrent than verbal explosions maybe influenced by recent situations, especially when the father and mother are divorced.

and I don't think that little girl is going to be scarred for the rest of her life with those comments from daddy. and if she is, i can't wait to hear her future boyfriends voicemails..........

Re: Alec Baldwin's Threatening Message to Daughter

To someone above, there's a big difference between verbal/psychological abuse and just yelling at your kids. Trust me, I have parents on both sides of the coin, and the impact is very much different.

And Caspian, I have to disagree, Cell Phones can be useful for even young children. I'd say the bigger problem is having a movie star daddy who undoubtedly buys you anything you want.

Re: Alec Baldwin's Threatening Message to Daughter

I know they can be useful, but they can also be heavily abused. I grew up in the pre-cell phone age and did just fine, as I'm sure just about everyone else here. At that age I'd feel more comfortable knowing they were with a responsible adult rather than running around and hopeing they didn't lose or break their cell phone incase I need to get in touch with them.

As for being the daughter of movie stars (and especially Alec Baldwin) yeah, there's a huge problem in and of itself.
