    Re: My alma mater...

If you look quick, in the wiki post, some dude said
"It's the other students faults, they didn't want to hang out with him, making him depressed and therefore, suicidal. He's right, this is their own fault."

    I mean seriously... WTF?

I'm states and states away, and I'm shaken up. I watched the convocation and was absolutely moved by you guys chanting your fight song there at the end. And even though I don't really know any of you, I cried. I'm kinda ..too empathetic at times, I think. haha...

This is horrible, and makes me so angry I can't even find words for what I feel right now. I hope all of your friends are okay, and pray that all of you guys get the healing you need and come back stronger than ever.

            Take care, all.

              Re: My alma mater...

I'm glad you're ok, Mog (well, physically at least - I'm sure it's going to be emotionally jarring for a while).

There are a lot of people in Virginia (and maybe around the world) pointing fingers here and there as to how the events were handled.

What I am hoping and praying is that, instead, there is a partnership built between the police dept, administrative dept, and students.

Administrators need to stop hiding "small" crimes like stalking, rape, and assault that happen on campus. What good is it to "save face" when the problems grow and escalate? Students will always be the first to know a classmate's personality, but they need to be encouraged to speak up and know they'll be heard.

I'm not saying go on a witch hunt, but there are definitely students which have a rapport with administrators and these can be the buffer between the general student body and reporting to administrators.

So many red-flags...and yet they're useless in hindsight. My aunt said she saw the English teacher interviewed who said she started fearing for her life because of this student. This should NEVER be discounted by administrators or police. And what about the alleged stalkings?

This is not a gun issue, this is a community issue.

I don't know whether I'm more sad or more angry at this point.

                Re: My alma mater...

Actually it seems like the school had taken a number of steps to try to reach out to or counsel him. Ultimately, it's up to the individual if they want to take those steps. In the coming weeks it will be easy to blame the school, law enforcement, the weapons store and even the victims to an extent; but in the end, the blame lies with him and only him.

Everyone is odd. It just depends on who you ask, which is why classmates reporting people as 'odd' to the police or school administrators is a silly idea. You will come across people in school who would report you, no matter how normal you think you are.

They did, I just read a transcript of an interview with them on CNN.

Apparently he had an imaginary girlfriend, wrote lyrics of (what sounded to be emo) songs on his walls, would stalk girls.

                        More like, damn that man.

This sick person repelled all attempts of befriendings that almost ever felled upon him as I have read. He comes from a rouch background. It is no persons fault but the gunman himself. He killed himself so there is no blaming left to do. For anyone hurt by the insane gunners actions I feel sadness for. I don't think this incident should turn into a catalyst for people bashing each other for any reason, religion, culture issues, US bashing, or any of the things I read on forums like BBC readers response.

I don't know you, but Im glad your fine Mog.

Some people can handle the hard lives that befall them while others crumble. I think this shooter was a crumbler.

Ussually the common decent person doesn't try to cheer up a person whom has had great sadness befall them with crass jokes and miss personafications. Firstly I am not a Woman. Your bashing is immature. I think Ill move to another forum till a better day for posting on this sight for now. Leave this to the crows as it seems.
