Soon to be? I think after that, and the "concept art" I've seen for Megatron...this movie fails. Will I still go see it? Probably. But at this rate I see myself walking out bitching about how much cooler the cartoon is.

Oh, and because I haven't seen anything "official" or remotely convincing about it...

      NEEDS MOAR GRIMLOCK!

I only ever even owned a couple toys from their anime saga, but this has me going "UGH."

Why the hell does it transform into a FUCKING CHEVY? Product placement much? Not even a pretty car...

I can't even go see this movie now that I know even -one- of the Transformers turns into a Chevy.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Hesh, focus on the plot, not the product placement people. At least it is a Transformers movie, in real looking ones. Only reason I believe they are doing product placement to help lower costs, espically with special effects going to eat up most of the funds for this.

Re: My name is Optimus Prime!

I forgot where I read this, but it's said that Volkswagen didn't want to be involved with anything that had to do with violence. That's why Bumblee isn't a bug/beetle.

Edit: I could have sworn it had to do with violence... but I found this.

"In his original G1 incarnation, Bumblebee is a Volkswagen Beetle, but to producer Don Murphy's disappointment, he was changed to a Camaro, as Bay wanted to avoid a comparison with Herbie the Love Bug."

                    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfo...lm%29#Autobots

Edit 2: I also found this... though I don't know if this is good news...

                    Sequels
Shia LaBeouf and Peter Cullen are signed on for two sequels. Soundwave and potentially Shockwave will be new major characters.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has said he plans for a sequel, though it will depend on the films box office success. The plot of the sequel is being planned, but Bay has not signed on to direct, saying "I'm trying to keep some leverage for the negotiations."

                        I also found this...

"Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, writers of the upcoming Transformers movie, told fans that the movie will take a real-world approach to its depictions of the robots that can change from everyday objects such as cars into futuristic fighting machines. "In translating this thing to live action, ... all of these Transformers are being designed in the movie such that, when they transform, there's no cheating," Orci said in a a live video Q&A on Yahoo! on Aug. 18. He added: "It's very much what it would realistically look like if a Transformer was sitting right there as a car, and it turned into the character that you know."

As a consequence, some of the everyday incarnations of well-known characters may change for the movie: Bumblebee, for example, is now a Camaro instead of a Volkswagen. "All the vehicle decisions were made based on literally sitting and staring at the actual vehicles and seeing how they would actually transform and deciding based on what is going to be the coolest version of seeing this live," Orci said. "

I guess my mind made up the violence thing, lol. Oh well.

Actually, they're both right. Volkswagen doesn't want war/violence associated with their cars. To quoteith wikipedia:

"Hasbro has also been actively seeking a license from Volkswagen in order to update the original Autobot, Bumblebee (who was a Volkswagen Beetle). Volkswagen declined, presumably due to their World War II history, claiming that, as with Porsche, they do not endorse "war toys" (all Alternators sport some manner of weaponry and thus Hasbro insisted that Bumblebee carry a gun). Concept drawings of the Bumblebee toy and a Cliffjumper remold still exist and the design made a cameo as a possible future Bumblebee in the Botcon 2005 comic, "Descent into Evil."

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers:_Alternators

It may be my naivety, but I'm going in with hope that it will be decient. I'm not one who gets upset if small details get changed, because that is the nature of the beast sometimes, and to think that you can keep a show/book/comic completely in tune with the film version is lunacy.

Re: My name is Optimus Prime!

GM has a partnership with Dreamworks on this film. All the non-military bots, except prime, will be GM vehicles. And I don't know how anyone could say the '08 Camaro isn't 'pretty'.

Also, Grimlock will not be in the film at all. The current 'bot cast is 100% done and official. Might be nice for a sequal though, an interesting twist on things.

Also, Hasbro didn't "insist" Bumbleebee had a gun, as he's never had one to begin with and still doesn't in his modern updated form. I believe his Alternator's concept art accidentally had gun however and VW told them to f' off because of it.

And Prime's lips, though not the first time he's had lips, are for his 'normal' mode. His battle mode face has his classic faceplate and there's even talks of having him keep the plate on full time as the fandom generally doesn't like the mouth either. With about 2 months left to finish this film, they can and will change a lot of stuff. (Believe me, a lot has changed already from when it first started being made)

                            Edit: Also http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/ent...s-posters.html

That has a pic with the mask up, as well as a buncha links in there to all the TF movie info you could ever want.

                              Because it's ugly?

There's a dealership around here displaying a lime green Dodge Daytona, and honestly that looks better than this.
