One of the problems with the internet and forums, chat etc. in general is that until you really know someone, nearlly having to be face to face you can not tell how a person will react to anything you say. were all different from different cultures, backgrounds, attitudes with things to one person would be nothing could be insulting, attacking or even go against their religeous/social backgrounds to others.

People need to start realising this in what is now a global community.

For example of a simple thing that gets up my nose. Murphy posted about the hospital cathcing fire on the said post, now he realises now that that was probably not a good thing to say as it may have upset BBQ and also it struck a nerve with me being a (now ex) fireman, who had to deal with alot of serious fire related incidents which does include a serious fire in a local hospital 3 years ago. By him saying that he made my bad books for the day. I could understand he didn't realise he made a comment I didn't approve of and from my post "Bad murphy -100 respect points" I think he realised that he had offended me in that.

That is just one example of something trivial that could offend someone without the poster even realising. It is difficult to think of everything when posting, if you were to post anything that didn't offend a single person in this world, our vocabulary would be extreemly limited.

The best thing to do is don't rush your posts, think about what you said and then think about who you are replying to and whether you could offend them or not, a little extra time to re-read your post doesn't do any harm and it can help prevent something like this blowing up.

We are a community here from difffernt backgrounds, cultures etc. we all share a single common interest, the game FFXI, this is still the cleanest least "bitchin" forum to do with FFXI on the net, lets keep it this way.

I'm refusing to comment here. I wasn't online - I was too busy in another fandom area. I'm probably on BBQ's ignore list, and my association with Murphie is well known. Both have probably gone too far, and I hope they find a way to resolve this and both apologise to each other.

My only comment is actually to the mods. I don't care if someone asks "Is the IP address this?" and a quote of IP address. For you to confirm this, effectively giving out an IP address to someone who has no use for it would be breaking the Data Protection Act in the UK, and I anywhere I would consider it a gross invasion of privacy. I'm shocked that it was even considered.

When I opened this thread, I wasn't prepared to be so disappointed in you, Murphie. I really like you, man, but when you do shit like this, I think anyone would be at least a little pissed.

Now, I might not always agree with you, but now you've just gone above and beyond the bounds of good sense. Whether or not it's something you're proud of, I'll never know. I don't know if i'd care if I did. Either way though, I honestly expected more from an established, respected forum member, such as yourself. You should know the basics of nettiquette by now, and should at least try to respect them.

In case you're having trouble reading between the lines here, let me make this very clear to you. When I open a thread called "I'm a monster", especially by you, I'm expecting either a picture of you in a fucking domokun costume, or a photoshop of a tarutaru cutting someone's head off. Anything else is just a blatant disrespect for the "Title:" function.

Really Ael, make with the pictures, or i'll PM taskmage to rename the thread. I can't believe you could make a subject so damn misleading.
